Getting braces (Also my first blog post!! :D)

I'm gonna get braces on Sunday and I'm pretty nervous...Are there things are should know? I heard that the hooks on the braces can cut up ur cheek, is that common? And is the pain on the second day truly unbearable? Is dark red a good color to get? I wanna know all about it, so pls comment ur experiences/tips w/ braces!
