I conducted an experiment

so basically a user made a button that sent you to a random SpaceHey account (here's the link to that) and the first time I pressed it I got sent to a random page with a name and that was it. No friends, no pfp, nothing interesting. And so I decided to conduct an experiment.

THE EXPERIMENT: How many profiles out of 100 are actually good?

For this experiment, I went through 100 profiles, not including "page not found"s, private accounts, or suspended accounts, and I counted how many were either good, bad, decorated but not active/didnt fill out any of the personality things and interests/links, not decorated but had a life, and to the side (not counted), the amount of profiles that haven't been active for less than one year (accounts which haven't been active for exactly one year didn't count).

"Good" meant that they weren't active for less than a year and had a life and a decorated profile

"Bad" meant they haven't been active for more than a year and didn't have a life or didn't have a decorated profile (or both)

the rest are pretty self-explanatory, I think

This is what I found:

Out of 100 profiles, 5 profiles were good, 57 profiles were bad, 26 were decorated but weren't active or didn't have a life, 12 weren't decorated but did have a life, and 6 accounts haven't been active for less than a year. And by my definition of "good" and "bad" profiles, the 26 and 12 other profiles are technically "bad". So therefore, 5 profiles were good, and 95 were bad.

In other words:

1/20 profiles are good

19/20 profiles are bad

5% of profiles are good

95% of profiles are bad

If you go through 100 SpaceHey profiles, there is only a 5% chance you will come across a profile who hasn't been active for less than a year, which is decorated, and who has a personality that they shared online. Not counting the ones that I left out.

now is my refection period

If I did this again, I would've probably counted the amount of ones I left out in this experiment, which I started doing but then I realized that I was trying to count the amount of good or bad profiles, and that would've been better if I had more actual profiles instead of things that weren't profiles. So maybe I'll do another experiment.

Also, somehow I should've remembered the people I came across so that I accidentally didn't come across the same person, so that it could be more accurate information.

Anyway, that was my experiment. Do what you will with that.

Also, I came across the account "Unknown" twice, who claims it hasn't been active for 56 years. do with that what you will.

Anyway. I might do another experiment to see how accurately this button can come up with actual profiles. I think I'll do that some time in the future.
