my life is pretty repetitive, but i want something to blog abt soo ima blog abt my phone experience xD
i sold my smartphone for a dumbphone; that is, this flip phone literally doesn't even have a GPS app or flash on the camera x_x but i wanted to get away from social media being in my face 24/7 for my mental health
today is the 4th day of being with my new phone and i love the experience overall, but there are some interesting things ive noticed.
1. i have more capacity for things like reading and hobbies
it reminds me of the difference between a child watching a highly-stimulating show like cocomelon, and a child that watches a low-stimulating show like bluey. My brain isn't constantly being stimulated to the point where i don't have the capacity to do things that don't give immediate results.
2. the internet is whimsical again :3
since im not online 24/7 anymore, i actually enjoy going on websites like reddit and instagram on my laptop, and it's easier for me to click off of the page when it starts to dampen my mood. I also have more patience for sites like this one, where it's a slower site without a bunch of action. I can finally be more active and actually have fun :D
3. doing things like going to the store and watching movies is more entertaining
im not constantly fidgeting and trying to find things to keep me as stimulated as apps have, and i can actually enjoy the time i spend out and about; BONUS: i have more patience for things !! 10 minutes doesn't feel like such a long time and i don't mind waiting around because im not as acclimated to immediate gratification :3
overall, this experience has been amazing for my mental health, i don't feel as cranky as i usually do and i feel refreshed and vitalized. I sleep better, im more observant, and overall i feel 1000000x more relaxed than b4. I def suggest the experience lol :p
