recently ive been seeing lots of content of ppl ditching their smartphones for a simpler life, trying to bring back what life was like before tiktok stole our souls, so i figured i should too. i was watching eddy burbacks video about ditching his phone and it was my breaking point. part of my reasoning is that i liked when the social media was contained to a space, and not just in my pocket everyday, so i made a compromise :p i deleted all my overused social media apps from my phone, leaving only the ones used for messaging as i have few friends and theyre rarely used anyways LOL. ive thought about ditching the phone completely and getting a flip phone or something similar, but last summer i was gifted an iphone 15 by my iphone hating dad, and i really appreciate that he did that even though he HATES the company, so im holding onto it for now. maybe once this this dies in 10 years ill swap but idk.
kinda just rambling and i feel like and ipad baby for saying all this but oh well, hopefully itll do me some good

Wishing you luck! I deleted the youtube app from my phone because I realized how much time I was wasting on youtube shorts when I don't even like that feature. It's been hard to break out of the cycle but I do feel a bit better since. I also got rid of insta and facebook a couple months ago, but for their terrible policy changes (they allow hate speech towards trans people now, it sucks). I've been trying to move to smaller platforms like this one and I have no regrets. Cara is a good app if you wanna follow artists and stay away from all the ai slop out there, not a ton of users there yet but the small community that's there is so encouraging and kind, feels like all the good parts of deviantart and tapastic back in the day. Forgot how much I missed it.
ooh i havent heard of that one before ill check it out! and im with you on youtube shorts 3 ive found a way to (sorta) remove only the shorts from the youtube home page, so i can continue watching random videos without it being the worst timesuck on the planet LOL i had set time limits for twitter and tiktok but once they were up id just find myself on yt shorts it was awful TT
