Hey heyy!! Even tho im not US based but in Asia here r my few tips for surviving high school!!
a) Academic wise:
-Practice practice PRACTICE!! Don't be afraid to seek consult from teachers if you're weak in certain areas! Its better to ask for help in the beginning than suffer not knowing anything for the next few years (coming from my me and my juniors experiences)
-Study apps! I really reccomend Gizmo for memorising content topics! Or AI websites that turn ur docs into flashcards and quizzes!
b) social wise
-Avoid drama groups. Omg groups filled with drama or those who secretly hate each other will drain you T0T Get out ASAP if you immediately feel bad vibes!!
-Join clubs!! Clubs are the best and important place to socialise as they have the same interests as you!
-Avoid talking shit about others
-I dont know about western countries but in Asia our bags are always decked with keychains and badges! So its super easy to find friends with the same interest! But if you feel like you'll get made fun of i reccomend hanging something simple and not go full out T-T
Its important to balance these two :D you can ask if you have any more questions
thanks lovey!!!!

Like the other comment said, join clubs. At the very beginning try to get friendly with as many people as possible then you can narrow down who you want to get closer with as you get to know people better. If possible try to hang out with a few different groups so you don’t get stuck in a group you don’t really like. Academics wise just try to know what you will be doing in classes throughout the year and maybe find some like overviews of each subject for your year so you can know what to expect. Try to build some rapport with teachers and if you do poorly on a test or don’t turn something in try to explain why to them or if it’s allowed ask for an extension. Good luck, high school looks scary but it can be sooo fun!
Thank you queen <3

Don’t worry, I’m finishing freshman year of hs so I understand! (I’m from America so this is based on my experience here so if it doesn’t apply as much, I apologize
) So obviously yes, being kind is important and whatev, but I found what saved me is avoiding drama best you can and not following trends (toxic ones at least!) Also, join clubs!! I’ve made most of my friends by joining theatre and meeting the people there, and it is really a nice community, at least at my school! Staying on top of schoolwork is very important, even if it’s difficult, I know, but push through it or your future self will not be having fun (my piles of missing work haunt me…) Additionally, people will constantly be asking, “what are your plans for college? What do you want as a career?” It can be intimidating, but I promise you still have time to figure it out. If you’re worried, get a general idea, and if it changes, that’s okay! You only need to really worry about that late junior and senior year. And really, just be yourself! Decorate your school bag, wear accessories and cool clothes if you don’t have a uniform, and don’t worry about what others think. I have social anxiety so I’m still getting past this fear of self expression, but I know I’ll feel so much better in the long run. Sorry if this is all just advice you’ve already been told lol, but this is just my experience!
THANK YOUUUUUU <3333
