A Blog About Diddy Kong Racing

I've never tried one of these websites before, so I thought I'd have some fun and try something. Anyways, has anyone ever played Diddy Kong Racing? Its a old racing game for the Nintendo 64 that is fondly remembered for being developed by Rare in their prime as a studio. I just beaten the game for the first time and I thought I would share my experience with it.

Their are eight playable racers, and my main throughout my experience would become Bumper the Badger which is a cool guy. He also apparently went to jail? Anyways, in this game their's a adventure mode with a hub world with a werid elephant guy who might be insentivitie today? I don't know. There's four worlds, with four tracks in each which you have to play each about three times at least, with a bonus battle game mode, and a boss race.

The game features a kart, a plane, and a hovercraft. These control differently, but all of them feel great to play and master. This goes for the mechanics like collecting bananas to increase speed, and getting balloons to upgrade your powerup, and letting go of the A button at a zipper will make you go faster. Mastering this game's basics is crucial just for beating it normally.

This game gets extremely difficult, after beating the boss once, you unlock the silver coin challenge where you have to go back to all the tracks, and get eight silver coins in the track, AND get first place, ANDDDD the AI is much more difficult! O_O I'll share the two stages that gave me the most trouble

Walrus Cove is has some really insane silver coin placements out of all of the tracks. This is the track with the big loop de loop and the frozen lake section, and the frozen lake part is the difficult part of this track. If you hit the lake, you bounce up, and lose ALL your speed! The worst part is that they put the worst silver coins right next to the lake, it is almost guarenteed to make you fall at least once!

Though the hardest one (and most notorious) is Greenwood Village. The silver coins will test your skills at this game, and will most likely be the point where you either get really good, or turn off the game and never touch it again. In this map the coins are in way out of the way places, and one of them in particular forces a route which is significantly slower. After servearl tries, I finally managed to squeeze out the win, and it felt really satisfying!

After beating all four worlds you finally unlock Wizpig the final boss. After a couple of tries and frustration I beat him and won. After which you unolck the final world, and the "true" final boss unless you don't have all the trophies. All that's left to do is all the time trial stuff, and a Adventure 2 and it would be 100% finished!

Hope you enjoyed my first post!
