We've officially been doing this whole 'Logbook' thing for 30 consecutive weeks! Let's see how long we can keep it going!

On Monday, my friends and I finalised the first of our two final summative submissions at Wetherspoons. So that was one of the damn things out of the way! My friend and bandmate from the Iddiekronie and Oddpulse, Lauren bought me a record, 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?' by Elvis Presley, which I played for this week's edition of 'Vinyl Review'. As it turns out, I've quite enjoyed implementing this "joke section" as an official part of the weekly vlog routine! I promised a fair few weeks back that this wouldn't become a weekly section... but here we are!
Tuesday was a rather busy one, beginning with recording guitar for Lauren's songwriting submission. Within that, one of her songs is called 'Jupiter In The Blue Realm', a true rocker of a track! I'll be doing a more in-depth review at some point so she can use my feedback in her official written submission for songwriting. Speaking of, throughout the week, I have been working on my own written essays, which have been annoying me more than I thought they would! That's just the nature of vague tasks like the ones we receive here at university!
On Wednesday, myself and Oddpulse performed yet another short gig, this time back at home on Metronome's main stage! We performed 'Ivy' and 'Light Beat Darkness' - yes, really that short! We do enjoy performing those types of gigs no matter what, so we had a great time! It's always fun when you have access to Metronome's green rooms for free! The audience seemed to like us too, which is definitely a bonus! It was definitely a later finish than usual, so I took it easy when I got home.
Thursday was a dedicated study day... and boy did it take the energy out of me! By the end of the day, I had finished the first of the two major written pieces which was definitely a good thing! It still left a sour taste in my mouth, knowing that I still had one more (longer) essay to chisel away at in the coming days. Some good news came out of the day though! Celestine have been able to secure cymbals and a snare for permanent use at gigs! These new pieces of equipment will come into play during our next gig on May 30th at the Mist Rolling Inn! You should definitely come see us if you're in Nottingham at the time!
Friday was a studio day with Celestine - not only have we recorded the bass and drums for THREE new Celestine tracks (leaving myself and Rosie pretty much out of work in the studio till at least October), but we've also heard the near-final mix of our next single, which is due to be released next Friday! Keep your eye on the Celestine Instagram page for updates! I spent a large part of the evening afterwards working away at this fore-mentioned second songwriting assessment. I only got half of it done, but the way I saw it was that it was half of an essay I wouldn't have done had I chosen to go straight to bed when I got home from the studio.
I was working away right into the wee hours of Saturday morning. After a nice long sleep, my family and I went to town so that I could have an eye test. I was rather disappointed when I was told my prescription had changed for the worse. As it turns out, I've developed astigmatism in both my eyes, which is, for all intents and purposes, the most common eye problem experienced by the average person. It just means that my eyeballs have turned rugby-ball shaped in some way. Either way, I was instructed to pick out a new pair of glasses, and my selection (this time a branded pair! How fancy!) will be available for me to pick up soon - new specs, new me!
The rest of the weekend was spent editing this week's vlog and finalising my essays, which I was able to submit by the end of Saturday! This now leaves me free for the Summer to finally work on more personal projects, to gig with Celestine and to prepare myself for Year 2 of university!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy watching this week's video, and I'll be back again next week with more! Thanks for reading! <3
