Modern internet feels so fake? Like it is so dead. The dead internet theory feels too real nowadays. After seeing so many bots and AI stuff, I just gave up on social media. I only keep using YouTube to watch those few small YouTubers that just vlog their life or yap about their interests.
But even on YouTube, the greed, attention span issues, and brain-rotting shit are going on. You can’t even watch a video in peace anymore. Everything is cut to keep you hooked, overstimulated, locked in all that bullshit to make you keep your attention on it constantly. Personally, it just makes me turn off the video because it gives me a headache.
To be honest, the internet and technology peaked in 2012. After that, everything started getting worse and worse until 2020, when everything on the internet just got so sucky and nothing feels good anymore.
We used to escape reality by using the internet, but now I just want to escape the internet, phones, and all of it. If I could, I would move back to 2012, when we had almost all of the technology we have today, but people went out more often? After I moved to Sweden, I noticed almost no one goes out to hang out. And even when they are together “hanging out,” they fucking sit next to each other and doom scroll. Like bro.
Everything is made to keep you online as long as possible, which drove me so crazy that I just ditched modern social media and started living my life like I used to before the pandemic that’s what caused me to get on modern social media in the first place.
I don’t know if I’m turning old, but I miss that damn phone-free life. For example, during a blackout in Spain, people went out again, took life slowly, started enjoying themselves, throwing rocks at their friends’ windows to call them out. That whole situation just made me think like this even more.
