i wanted to make a more extensive and insightful introduction to myself, including plans for this page. (much of this could be found in my about me… but i want to expand a bit here)

my name is moon (pronouns they/them/he), i'm 20 years old, and i come from nyc ★ ★ ★

i've studied english and philosophy in university for the past two years. next year, though, i will be studying classics (so, ancient philosophy, literature, art history… etc). i was introduced to classic greek and latin literature in a study-abroad year i took and realized this was my passion… so i applied to transfer universities and programs, and what do you know!!! i got accepted to my dream university. i got invited to retake control of the shape of my future. that chapter begins in september, and i couldn’t be more excited.

re: english, classics, literature… i love to read!!! as a child, i was always buried in books. around adolescence, this hobby was made too difficult to sustain due to undiagnosed neurodiversity. fortunately though, i got the help i needed, and now have the tools to live my life to its fullest (within my capabilities… which were broadened widely). i’ve worked on my comprehension for a couple of years and have come up with a sound repertoire of literature in my library.

some of my favorite books include:

— white nights (fyodor dostoyevky)

— the odyssey (homer)

— the faerie queene (edmund spenser)

— sonny’s blues (james baldwin)

i am american born and raised (if one asks, i’d identify as a new yorker, although i’ve moved around my whole life) and lived there until i began university. i spent my first semester of university abroad in london. the very week i moved back to nyc, i called my advisor to ask when i could go abroad again. she matched me with a year-long program back in the uk, which i will complete this week.

these opportunities abroad offered the further opportunity to travel. in america, it is so impractical to take “holidays” so regularly, especially one past the borders (of the usa, or even of your state). here in the uk, i can take holiday in europe, and it costs the same as an american grocery bill.

so, i realized my passion for travelling. i’ve visited amsterdam, paris, barcelona… i frequent edinburgh, and spent some days in the highlands.

it’s tragic that i won’t see europe likely for years, but it has been a wonderful experience while it’s lasted.

moreover… i love love love makeup!!! i take lots of inspo from myspace scenequeens, vkei baddies, andy biersack, and other emo boys who happened to wear eyeliner in the 2000s (pete wentz, gerard way).

i also enjoy playing videogames!!!! i haven’t played much in the past two years (i left my PC in the usa while i’ve been abroad), but i played lots of league of legends, overwatch 2, and vampire rising.

lastly, on music!!!! i lovveee so much music…. so i’ll start with some less-obvious favorite genres of mine:

— classical music

— jazz, blues, bebop, swing

— visual kei/j-rock

— theatre/musicals

and some more-obvious favourites… i love so much music… tbh look at any when we were young flyer and you’ll have a pretty good extended rota of my favorites. my top three bands, though, are:

— my chemical romance

— pierce the veil

— panic! at the disco (mindfully including post-split..)

honorable mentions include: dance gavin dance, the brobecks, sleeping with sirens, fall out boy, crywank, the cure, depeche mode, black veil brides (and other andy projects), chiodos, have a nice life, deftones, los campensinos!, the used, and a lot more :3
