birthday blog + 5 year anniversary of my website!!

hello my loves!! i'm finally updating the blog after ten million years. whether you stumbled upon this via spacehey or you were linked from my website/elsewhere i welcome you.

first and foremost, i decided to move the blog to spacehey simply because it's easier to update and it's far more streamlined. maybe i'll rework the way i do blogs on my website, but for now this is good and fine.

i've been out of it for a minute, huh? i've mentioned it elsewhere before but i'm terribly sorry about that. the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma -- even to me! but we are collectively going through it, so perhaps there's some understanding to be had. i've found a lot of frustration with myself, particularly with My Guys. in the sense that i have a fun and somewhat ambitious idea for a strip (like something with backgrounds!! i suck at those and i hate doing them lol), i start the strip, realize that this is going to be harder than i thought, and i end up posting late. which gets me all sad and demotivated n whatnot, but i've been guys posting semi-consistently for a whole year which is huge! and i'm proud of myself for keeping to a somewhat consistent schedule. that being said, i have a special thing in store for the guys that, due to the nature of this particular thing, will have me putting a pause on guys posting for now. (especially since artfight is also a thing that i'd have to be dealing with at the same time... ough...). allow me to share a glimpse of the special thing.

anyways, my birthday was a few days ago! i like celebrating my birthday, even on odd years. it's a great reason to hang out with my friends and family! :3 a few days before my birthday, i did a bob ross painting night with my friends, which was very fun and awesome! i made a nice painting i'm going to give to my grandma when i see her next. i also received some gifts from my lovely friends!! i got a selectron ii typewriter and also a propeller hat with giant lollipops. then the day of, i went to visit my brother! we went to the mall and he bought me what i wanted. i didn't buy a whole lot because i felt bad spending his money, but i got some delightful little trinkets. overall, good birthday!

last but not least - my website has been up and operational for 5 whole years. i've certainly come a long way in my webweaving journey, and i'm honestly pretty satisfied with the overall vibe and layout of my website. i opened it the day after my 18th birthday during the pandemic, mostly on a whim just to see if i could -- and i could! but man i look back and think "i don't know if i should've" lol. it's a lot like drawing in a way, where you're gonna want to hold on to your old work to look back on. just to see how much you've improved. and also to cringe at stuff you thought was "cool" and "good". like excessive gif usage. i've got some cleaning up to do though! and some tweaks to make to scaling stuff. used a lot of percentages when i made it, and i realized that using those percentages is the very thing that makes it look shitty on mobile. upon reflection, none of this was stuff that i thought of when first made my site. this is growth, i think. time flows on and i am wiser.
