Plunder phonics is where you exclusively use recognizable music samples. Pretty much very complex mashups. BUT they are naturally cool! BECAUSE we as humans reaaaalllyy like being able to recognize things. Like when someone says a sentence and it reminds you of a lyric and it makes you happy because you remembered the lyric or whatever. Or when a musician samples a song you already know and you're like “OO OO. I KNOW THAT”. Anywayy, I just think it's really cool that a style of music that can be so accessible to almost everyone can be naturally liked, just because of the way our brains like to perceive things!
Plunderphonic is actually very very broad and sampling itself is pretty much plunderphonics.
So here are some really good plunderphonic stuff.
Leroy (pretty much the entire genre of dariacore plunderphonic because the use of pop samples being the main focus) https://on.soundcloud.com/rYCWx6Ap8pvnxdUr8
Pogo (you might’ve heard some of Pogo's work before) https://youtube.com/@pogomusic?si=On-GKnSlF2b-a4cm
christtt (I'm not sure how many projects are plunderphonics, but I do know deep dark trench is a really good album) https://christtt.bandcamp.com/
The Caretaker (Is actually a derivative form of plunderphonics called Hauntology) https://thecaretaker.bandcamp.com/album/everywhere-an-empty-bliss?label=3200277690
Macintosh Plus (Vaporwave is also a derivative form of plunderphonics too) https://vektroid.bandcamp.com/album/floral-shoppe
Turntablism is also a good form of plunderphonics.
Neil Cicierega and his ‘Mouth’ mashup mixtape series! https://youtube.com/@neilcicieregamusic?si=IRc8wVeLhvcW7zNk
