Alice in Wonderland play!1!1!1!!! scripting and roles+ typical theatre kid antics. (´。• ᵕ •。`)

I'm super jazzed to say that the freshman drama club is planning an Alice in wonderland production!!!!!

at first, I had NO idea who to act. I'm not on stage crew, or script prep, I'm an actor.

I don't really have some stupid dream of becoming an actor, before you ask. I just joined because I happened to be a talented actor, it'll add a little more to my diploma, and, why not?

at. first, I had NOOOO idea what part to vouch for.

I was fretting between the Cheshire Cat or Alice, I at least wanted to be Cheshire Cat until I saw how many LITTLE lines it had!!! I needed something more... intertwined with the storyline of the script.

I've been in quite a lot of clubs and in general school services; student council and art in sixth grade, I joined the swim team and newspaper comic crew in seventh grade, and around eighth, I joined drama. I stuck with art, swim team, and drama. I would've stayed in the newspaper comic crew, but they decided they didn't need comic strips and kicked all of us out. keep in mind we got our positions through a competition. rude!!

but in all these school clubs and school services, I always tried my hardest to make a name for myself, so of course, I had the same mindset here.

so, I prayed REALLY hard. I would make multiple duah's about it, wish for it during salah, and even last Friday, I prayed and prayed and prayed.

and alas, the day of role selections finally arrived.

last year, the drama club was really professional with planning plays for the school. there used to be both genders in the club, but now its only girls lol. last year I played the main characters older sister who was moody, a fashionista, but most important of all, always on her cellphone, so the play gave me the title: 'Phone Girl" among the younger kids.  eventually people forgot about me though.

but this year, instead of selecting roles though auditions, I guess since its the drama teacher's last year here, he spun a wheel. the rules were, that if a persons name was landed on after spinning the wheel, they had to choose their role

one thing came to my mind and one thing only; if my name was landed on first, I could become Alice!

and as far as I was able to tell, the two other girls who wanted to be Alice too were thinking the same exact thing.

I sabah'ed bismilah for an entire minute while the teacher explained how the lottery worked.

and guess what????

DRUMROLL PLEASE!!!!!!!!

*dundundundundudnundudnudnundundunduuuunnn or however the fuck you write it*

IT LANDED ON MY NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was baffled for a minute

me: "are we selecting roles through this?" I asked

teacher: "yes."

me: "are they permanent?"

teacher: "yes."

so then, I said dot on: "okay then, id like to be Alice please."

the teacher wrote my name down on a chart made to be filled up with our actors and their roles in our production

the entire club roared. some in encouragement, some in anger, some in surprise, some with jealousy.

girl who wanted to be Alice: "that's not fair!"

girl: "it is fair. do you even remember the rules? her name came first, so she gets to pick her role out of all the other characters.

after spinning the wheel on the strange unknown website, there were less and less spots open. it was almost as if watching a well dry up aha

the girl I wanted to be the queen of hearts, got the role as well so I guess things worked in my command twice I guess. :)

I wanted her to be the queen of hearts, because she herself wanted that role, and I agreed. it totally suits her!

my close friend also got the role of the rabbit!! it was the one she wanted most too!! now Im going to chase after her the entire play lol

we read through our script, and practiced a bit and recited our lines a bit. my role is actually quite respectable but difficult because I appear in all scenes, and I do quite a few complicated movements, like running in heels, or fake falling. its going to be difficult, but so worth it!!!

everyone got the roles they wanted!! the only people I feel bad for, are the girls who wanted to be Alice, but didn't get the role. :( but who cares! Im going to put all my attention on me, myself, and I only!!

my friend wanted to be Alice though :( me and my close friend tried to cheer her up and talk about how important her role is, but she didn't budge

the thing is, im probably going to get lots of requests from her and the other girl who wanted to be Alice (but became the rose instead) to switch roles! :(

the teacher told us we can swap if we want to apparently

but NO! nuuh. they both tried persuading me, and I rejected them politely, but if they ask again, its a BIG Nono, because we have no one in the costume department this year, so we're either using costumes from last year, or bringing clothes from home that look like what the character would wear (casual wear is NOT allowed!!!)

and I already bought items to create Alices outfit! I found a dress that looks like hers, a headband, an apron, and many more! plus, I have some of her things at home as well!!

besides, u get what u get, and u don't get upset!!
