What happened to Infinity Nikki?

Infinity Nikki seemed pretty popular, but recently I've seen more and more people complain about stuff.

Apparently, the devs were accused of manipulating drop rates so that they players are less likely to get rare items. This is a hard thing to prove imo, but a lot of players have agreed to collect their data to see if this is true. According to some reddit threads, Infinity Nikki has purchased positive reviews in order to boost their game. I'm not sure what happened to the game for it to be doing so bad, it hasn't even been a year since it came out and they already messed up?

If anyone has more info lmk

Honestly I don't understand why suddenly everyone is complaining. Yeah, they reworked the beginning of the story, and I didn't like that, but it's not a huge deal. I don't really know what the whole drop rate thing is about, it feels the same to me and I've been playing since launch day. As for "buying positive reviews" I can't really speculate -- how would one even think to assume that? What proof is there? The only valid complaint I see here are the bugs -- yes, I've experienced quite a few bugs, and they're annoying. But usually it's not anything that can't be fixed by fast-traveling to a nearby warp point.

What I personally have an issue with is the censorship. Currently, for the past week all communication and text-input features have been disabled -- messages, starwish bottles, hourglass photo captions, even editing profile info. They say it was for "ongoing maintenance", but we all know that's a crock of crap -- June 4th was the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, and the entire week surrounding it is literally known as "censorship week" where the Chinese government silences people online to prevent them from talking about it. Infold, like any other game developer that's headquartered in China, was forced to comply and shut off communication features. Genshin and many other gacha games ALL do this, and ALL under the excuse of "maintenance".

It's not just in-game either -- any posts or comments in the official subreddit or discord about it get removed. People are asking why they can't use features and they're literally deleting any explanations. Some poor girl says she got banned for mentioning Taylor Swift's "1989" album, because 1989 is the year it happened.

the game is in a nigh unplayable state with tons of bugs. The developers are constantly acting like their target audience is 6 year olds when they know it's grown women(their latest twitter event was a fucking "connect the numbered dots on this drawing" even like you'd give a kindergartener), the story is also dumb I don't mind the retcon personally but the rest of the game's story overall lacks any depth whatsoever like it's made for toddlers. For a game about fashion they sure love using ugly sock puppets as NPCs instead of actual humans with interesting fashion designs.

TLDR: Devs are being stupid, they know what they need to do yet they keep doing the complete opposite

There's so much potential, the fashion system itself is so good. The developers just needs to remember this game is for grown women

to keep things simple, they reworked the story and completely changed it (making it so that the intro and later part make no sense whatsoever once you finish the tutorial, made it so that you need 20 more pulls to finish the 5 star outfit (with a piece that you can't even see on because it's covered by the dress), the dye mechanic is practically something you have to pay for because free material is very limited, colors like white and black aren't even available for 4 star outfits and you have to complete all evolutions for the 5 stars to get them (meaning you have to get the full set twice for all evolutions)

The game is also buggy as hell. PlayStation players weren't able to log in for maybe 2 weeks (some still aren't able to), there was a bug that gave you negative diamonds even if you never made an in-game purchase and did no chargeback, and there were fake Steam reviews (they did get removed but that's not helping their case). The only thing they really did was delay the next version update, but besides that, nothing was done. Bug fixes only made new bugs and people are quite unhappy. So many quit the game already.

honestly it just seems like the devs wanted to use the game to exclusively make money which is like i understand but they dont put in any effort at all to make the game better
