bunny by mona awad ꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱

I FINALLY FINISHED AN ENTIRE BOOK FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ALMOST A YEAR WOOOOOO

screen addictions are an insane thing omg

but, anyways,

i read bunny by mona awad, after months of putting it off. i really liked it!! it kinda gave me the vibes of the secret history, life is strange (ik that sounds crazy hehe), and my dark vanessa, which is one of my favorite books. i think bunnny almost beats it :P

so yes :-D

i found the main character to be really relatable, with going through a writing slump, and dealing with a lot of loneliness by not knowing how to make friends well. she falls into this cult of girls in her university.

spoiler warning from here on out!

eventually she finds out that these girls are turning bunnies into men to be perfect boyfriends for them, but then when they aren't perfect (which, none of them are), they kill them with an axe. most of the time.

the ending gets really trippy, and i highly recommend reading it yourself if youre into more surreal books. i don't know if it counts as horror.

but all in all, i really enjoyed it! i loved the use of names & nicknames for each character, kind of like fleabag's characters. i think mona awad also did a good job of being trippy & nonsensical in the narration, without making it super confusing and flowery like other books (that aren't even supposed to be surreal!) have imo. i had to quit 'this is how you lose the time war' because of that problem actually, which is a shame :P

apparently there is a sequel, as well, which im planning to read. right now, i think i'll try 'a cold night for alligators'. with my record of ditching books, though, i'm not sure

ty for reading!
