now I'm gonna talk about some of my favorite songs!!

music is so cool.... I like it a lot. I care more about lyrics than melodies. melodies almost never mean anything to me, but lyrics are great because they convey story and emotion more concisely than a melody does! it's so great how melodies and lyrics being completely out of sync helps songs to tell better stories. I think sometimes, I don't even listen to certain songs, I just read the lyrics! of course I always like to have music playing in my earbuds as often as possible.

miss world - hole is a contender for my favorite song of all time. miss world is great. the whole live through this album is great... I like the album cover. it's so pretty and purple. it reminds me of carrie. I love that story. I like the subversion of the prom queen and pageantry theme. miss world feels like the opposite of what the inner monologue of what that kind of girl would be. you'd think the girl that wins miss world would be happy. I love the idea of miserable beauty queens. though in Courtney's case, I think she was writing from the perspective of someone who'd never win miss world. since she always felt she was homely. so maybe the title was an attempt at irony for her?

stirb nicht vor mir - Rammstein i love this song!!!!! I like how the song duets the male and female voices. it sounds pretty. but I really like the message. it's very bittersweet... most rammstein songs sound very angry but this one is much more melancholic though it has some edge. it's my favorite rammstein song.

don't fear the reaper - blue oyster cult. I like this song too... it's very good.. I like the message. I should read the genius explanation at some point (do any of you remember when clicking on Spotify Lyrics would give you like, a direct link to the genius annotations? I miss when that happened..) but I'm assuming it's about suicide? and death in general but that's how I interpreted it. most media portrays death as this terrifying thing but in this song they make it out to be a nice thing which Is cool. I like this song..

three wishes - the pierces. I love the pierces. this is my favorite song of theirs. it's about a couple. the singer herself has issues with trust, dreams of being metal and never feeling again so as not to be hurt. the other in the couple, is more nurturing, he wants to save the singer and undo her damage and pain. but she resists because she doesn't want to be better, so his attempts to fix her only renew her anger. he wants happiness and unconditional love and perfection but she can't give him that.

the sticks - mother mother.. it's just a very good song. I like the whole sticks album. it's about isolation and escape, discontent with the modern normal world. I like the opening track that plays right before, 'omen' which clarifies the meaning of the whole album. the modern world drives them insane, and so they want to escape to the sticks or the woods, to another time and another way of living. 

who do you want to be - oingo boingo. I love this song. it's about changing everything about yourself based on what you see on TV or in other media, emulating other well known figures and often forgetting who you were before in favor of being a 'copycat'. to satiate boredom and to become more interesting or unique (ironically)!

grace for sale - terrance zdunich, the devil's carnival this is just a really fucking cool song... I don't know how to put my thoughts about it into words it's just soooooo cool!
