how to minecraft survival?

i have found a great mountain/stone area so I've been exploring, getting a FUCKKK ton of iron, smelting it, and have not been collecting material for a house other than a bunch of calcite. I stopped by a village in my exploring to get all their hay bales for food, and now I'm just... mining? I'm exploring into a bigger cave soon – maybe instead of emeralds I'll find diamonds? got so scared in my risky exploring because I forget endermen are there and almost looked one in its eyes, and then a bunch of zombies ran after me, so I had to haul ass back to my camp-site (I don't even have a cover for it)

but I actually have no idea how to do miencraft survival

it depends on what youre doing? prev commenter is 100% correct the nice thing about minecraft is you can set your own objectives and it doesnt really matter what you do when or why as long as you're having fun :) however as someone who likes objectives i can tell you the typical game cycle:
if you're trying to beat the game it usually goes > find iron (for better gear & mining diamonds) > find diamonds (for mining obsidian and also for awesomeness) > grind up a little to survive the nether (need obsidian and flint & steel, plus whatever armor/weapons/etc you deem necessary) > get blaze powder (to make eyes of ender) and other nether goodies (at this point you can also make potions and netherite armor if you don't mind digging for 1000 years) (i love digging for 1000 years personally) > grind for the end (recommend loading up on bow & arrows or whatever equivalent there is nowadays) > go to the end (you throw the eyes of ender into the sky and follow them to the stronghold, then use them to open the portal) > fight ender dragon and defeat ender dragon > you have reached the official ending of minecraft! enjoy the minecraft end poem

i'm gonna be honest it's been a couple years since i actually sat down and played so i know theres a buuunch of stuff postgame now as well :) end cities and wardens and such. if you're into building i also like to watch fWhip for inspiration, he has a minecraft hardcore world where he just Builds and Builds.... theres also So So So So So much to do in between those milestones as well, especially with all the updates you can reeaaalllyyyy take your time and deck yourself out if you want, especially post-nether. you also never have to go to the end or the nether at all!!! depends on what you're having fun doing!!

happy mining! :)

I have heard stuff about the dragon but never paid much attention! awh I'd feel bad slaying it, a pet dragon would be awesome. and thank you for the tips!!! I'll definitely keep that in mind. I appreciate it!

What you are experiencing is essentially survival, go explore, build shit, there is no specific set of rules for 'minecraft survival'. Some people like to just wander 20 thousand blocks into one direction until they find everything they need, some just go mining for 2 weeks straight, it's up to your imagination :^)

okay I guess that makes sense! I guess because I'm more of a beginner player it feels like there are rules or smth that I'm supposed to follow haha. thank you for responding!
