i'm going to surprise one of my friends by going to the thrift store today and getting lots of cute clothes for her. I don't like going outside often if at all, but I'll have to force myself today to buy her presents. i'm also reticent about spending money because at the moment I don't have much, but things are insanely cheap at the thrift store on my street so I could probably get as many as twenty  items with half the money I have on hand today. I played the sims today, which was okay, but some stuff happened that I didn't plan on...

I have a sims play through that's been going for eight months ish now, and it's gotten very detailed. I'm only on generation one right now but I'm steadfastly approaching generation two. I already have written plans for everything that will happen. I usually like to make very complicated and detailed stories, but for this one, I just wanted to do something simple and straightforward.

my playthrough centers around five britechester university students: Rhiannon dodge, Keenan Rowell, Karson Diaz, dawn Coffman, and genesis otero. they're all britechester students, and they all live as neighbors in the same apartment complex. they're a mixed bag group of friends, and the story starts when they are freshmen. 

Rhiannon is from Chestnut Ridge, where her father was a championship rider and her mother was a homemaker. she had three younger siblings, and though she came from a very loving family, there was an expectation for her to take care of her siblings as she was the eldest. she applied to britechester and moved to san myshuno to live independently and without the responsibility of taking care of others. she's a cheerful, attractive, and popular person. she's relatively carefree and very much new to the hustle and bustle of city life. 

Keenan Rowell is a practical overachiever. he was born to an unstable single mother, who lived as a hard partier in the spice market area of san myshuno, and had no idea who Keenan's father even was out of all the men she had been with. they lived on the road and she could rarely ever provide for him or herself. so Keenan focused wholly on his schooling, and studied hard to be at the top of his class, in the hopes of one day getting a degree and landing a high paying job, so he never had to be worried about his financial security ever again. however, because of his childhood, he struggles with sometimes indulging in substances or partying too hard like his mother.

Karson Diaz is someone that nobody knows anything about. he's a class clown, and everyone only knows him as a happy go lucky stoner who likes to couch surf and is way too into bob Marley (his catchphrase is something ridiculous like "que sera, quesadilla!". in reality, karson is an orphan, who knows nothing about his family origins. he was tossed between foster homes and orphanages until eventually, halfway through his teenage years, he was arrested for petty theft. he spent several months in a juvenile detention center before being released, seemingly an entirely different person. he wanted to be fabulously wealthy, and had finally discovered his Hail Mary; dealing to other college junkies. on his first day, he charmed dawn and genesis into having them begrudgingly allow him to be their roommate so long as he payed the majority of the rent.

dawn coffman is a sweetheart. No one who met her ever had a bad thing to say about her. she's shy, warm hearted, and sweet, while also being curious and disciplined. she wants to be a biologist, and she's going to college first and foremost to learn as much as she can about anything that she can. she grew up in del sol valley with a single mother and an identical twin sister. while dawn was very likable and kind, her more artistic and quiet twin sister, Kirsten, grew up in dawn's shadow, and resented dawn for getting more love and attention from those around her.

genesis montero is dawn's polar opposite, and yet even so, they are childhood best friends. they met in kindergarten and have been inseparable ever since. genesis is judgmental and introverted, she rarely has anything nice to say about anyone and she is generally slow witted, always failing classes and struggling to put effort into or understand anything cerebral or intellectual in any way. her parents hail from mt. komorebi, where they always had incredibly strict expectations of genesis, and were over and over again disappointed by her lack of intelligence, and discipline. they especially hated the closeness between genesis and dawn. but if they knew just how much deeper it went, well, genesis would be disowned for good.

the storyline would be set like a romcom -- Rhiannon would have several different boyfriends over the course of the playthrough, Keenan would have several different girlfriends, Karson would be... Karson... and dawn and genesis would navigate their feelings for each other, dawn being confused about hers and genesis repressing her own due to internalized homophobia. the storyline would end with Rhiannon and Keenan, after having multiple different significant others, and after years of being friends, eventually realizing they belong with each other, and then getting married. and after genesis and dawn finally admit their feelings for each other and get ready to tell the truth about their relationship, dawn accidentally outs them both at thanksgiving dinner with genesis's family. her parents disown her, and she gets in such an explosive fight with dawn that it ends their relationship forever. and while genesis slides back into the closet, she's taken advantage of while drunk by Reynaldo potter (important later), (one of Rhiannon's old exes) and has her virginity taken by him. and that's when she becomes accidentally pregnant. it's a time of existential dread for her, and she begs her parents for help. they rip into her but then tell her that no matter what she cannot get an abortion. they force her to carry the child to term, and she reaches out to Reynaldo and forces herself to go through with marrying him. dawn confronts her before she marries him and begs her to run away with her, but since genesis cares more about the approval of her family than dawn, she chooses to marry Reynaldo and has the child.

Karson has a relationship with dawn's sister Kristen and eventually marries her as well. Rhiannon and Keenan have their wedding four years into their relationship in sulani while Karson and Kristen have a small one in brindleton bay. eventually, all of them move to san sequoia with their own families to begin generation two.

I feel like this playthrough is the simplest story I've ever had. it's a straightforward college romcom, with happy endings for everyone I guess, except for genesis. dawn never marries again but adopts a daughter and finds happiness in that family dynamic. I think generation 2 will focus on two of the kids, I'm thinking genesis's son and Rhiannon and Keenan's daughter, or dawn's adoptive daughter. the both of them will be very similar, and academic rivals in their childhood. like, ben gross and devi vishwakumar (never have I ever is a guilty pleasure show of mine...) but I haven't defined much so far.
