I'm sorry for getting ranty on here because that's not what I want to present like on the internet, but it really pisses me off when I try to make genuine friends on here only for everyone I see to quit immediately after making their account, usually because it's too confusing for them and they don't have the patience to figure it out.
Or, they make a cute profile for the aesthetics and then leave because the site isn't brainless slop designed to keep their attention at all times. That's exactly the type of platform this site is supposed to be against, and I wish more people genuinely stuck around for anything but profile customization! Like it's a SOCIAL MEDIA SITE for god's sake, not just some dress-up doll to throw out and leave behind. I can hardly find any people on here despite this platform being allegedly really fucking popular!
IIRC everyone back in the day only cared about the Layouts tab and using it to get clout, and as soon as they shut down that section of the site everyone just got up and left. It PISSES ME OFF! Because I really wanted to find people with similar views and interests on here, but all of them are either 18+ accounts or give up an hour after making their account. It's so inaccessible for minors to do anything on these types of social media platforms because people automatically assume they're all annoying or attention seeking, when that is not an age restriction issue (that would be when people age restrict their account due to suggestive material/not suitable for children).
My idea would be to make some sort of SpaceHey welcome committee that tries to get new users to stay around and provides resources? But that would be really resource expensive, and friending people just to welcome them feels a little like hoarding behaviour which I imagine would strike some people as unseemly. Either way I'm open to conversation about this so let me know what you'd do if you were me, or just say nothing I guess I don't care :3

honestly, i see alot of ppl making their accounts and leaving right after, like- i find someone with the same interests so i friend them,but right after they never apear again.

i understand what you mean im on here at least once a week i dont use the mobile app so i have to sit at my desk fire up the gateway crt and surf the net, if you want to be friends that would be cool i need more active people on here

i feel that its for the better that a lot of new users leave the site quickly... because most of them do not have any respect for this site or its users and we are quite frankly better off without them because they are obnoxious and unhonorable... its not on us to get them to stay when they barely actually care about the local community
the new users that actually do have genuine respect and care about this site wouldnt need us to bend to their every whim and would slowly take the time to understand why we find this website to be so great and come to cherish it as we do
i find it better when the annoying and disrespectful users leave in a week or less instead of unfortunately becoming active users that use this site and mass friend-request people as an ego trip... i find it quite unfortunate when i find those kinds of people in my friends bulletins sometimes... but thats what we have the block feature for (;

exactly!!! I guess a lot of people are way too braindead to really keep their focus on a site like this, thats more focused on, you know, social interaction, because this is a social media site. It really does piss me off. they´d rather go back to like tiktok and forget. i wouldn´t blame them if i knew it wasn´t damaging to this community

The point is to not keep your attention at all times, so it makes sense that people don’t have their attention on space hey… at all times. I only come on here once every couple of days at most, after all, isn’t that the point? Though I do understand where ur coming coming from. It would be nice if the majority active user base wasn’t just people who show up to make an “aesthetic y2k scenecore breakcore kawaii vocaloid I-came-here-from-tiktok core account” page lol

honestly that's kind of the type of people to avoid, if you really want to add cool, active people the best way is by adding people on other kind of blogs and specially people who comment on your friends bulletins/blogs
