cmbyn take

 i've been swarmed with cmbyn edits on tt, and as much as i love the aesthetic of the movie, the quotes, cinematography, and storytelling, i just can't help but have a small hate for the fanbase.

most of them completely ignore the age gap and see it as only a regular love story. the age gap is the point of the movie. it's intentional in a way that deepens the message of the film. i think people are confused cuz it's set in elio's point of view, and he's naive and makes it seem like it's a normal relationship despite the age difference. he's young and in love, so he's oblivious to being taken advantage of, so is the watcher, i guess. I JUST CAN'T STAND THAT PPL STILL VIEW IT AS A NORMAL LOVE STORY CUZ IT'S NOT. maybe they're not thinking about it as deeply as i am, but it isn't a love story to enjoy or want.
