Some of my SpaceHey feature suggestions!!!!

While we all surely love SpaceHey (right guys???), it's undeniable that some features on this site (or lack thereof) drive us a little insane! So here are a few UNINTRUSIVE changes I would make if I were An for a day!! Let me know what you guys think!!

AN OPTION TO HIDE THE COOL NEW PEOPLE TAB!!!!

While I understand its purpose, I have to point out the obvious flaw that anyone with over two months on the site has noticed.

GORE!

A few times a year, an individual (or multiple) will create dozens of accounts, verify the emails, and then set their profile pictures to gore. It's yucky, but that's the internet—so why not give us a way to hide it? It not only makes us, the users, more comfortable on the homepage, but it removes a large chunk of the incentive for them! Why make gore accounts if no one even sees them? A simple [Hide] option under the tab would suffice!

MAKE IT EASIER TO MASS UN-ADD PEOPLE ON YOUR FRIEND LIST!!!!

This one is a personal gripe of mine, as it makes it harder for me to clean out my friend list once everyone (inevitably) goes inactive! Bring over a system like on mobile! Upon opening your friend list, a few options could appear under each username:

[Message] [Remove Friend] [Add to Favorites] [Block]

Obviously, this can be tweaked to look better or more compact—you get the idea!!!!

MORE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT / EVENTS!

I would LOVE to see some community events hosted by the mods and/or an appointed community manager. Stuff like “Coolest Profile,” “Most Advanced Layout,” “Profile of the Month,” etc. Upon winning one of these votes, you’d get a silly little badge similar to the donator badge! I think this could bring much-needed activity to the platform!!!!!

BLOG PAGE OVERHAUL!!!!

I'm sure everyone and their mother knows how blogs work on this site by now, and how stupid and weird it is...

For those who don't know, blogs are given their spots on the "Top Blogs" page via an unseen view count. This view count can be easily boosted by just opening the blog like 80 times in new tabs—each one is counted as a new “view” in the code.

All I think needs changing here is how views are calculated. YouTube, for example, counts views by the amount of time spent on the video (in this case, blog), and “self-views” are allowed, but if too many happen in a short time span, they stop being counted.

I also think kudos and comments should be factored in, but obviously, that’s not as important as fixing view count.
