RPF

RPF aka Real Person Fiction consists of treating real people (most commonly band members) as fiction. I wanna talk about the rpf in the "bandom" (band-fandom) of My Chemical Romance. The most common example of RPF in the MCR bandom is Frerard. Frerard is when lead singer Gerard Way and guitarist Frank Iero are shipped. Frerard has been in the MCR bandom since the band's rise to fame after the release of their second album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004). The shipping of Frerard exists because of the way the two acted on stage, kissing, being physically close, etc. Personally, I feel like Frerard is okay to be shipped as it consists of their stage presence. While it is not okay to ship them in the current day and age, as they are married with kids, I feel as though it is acceptable in certain eras. Thankfully, most shippers of Frerard keep it to themselves or AO3. Another example of RPF in the MCR bandom is fanfiction. Most MCR fanfiction is either "X Reader", which is when you are shipping yourself (the reader) with a member, and Frerard. Gerard Way himself has confirmed that he doesn't care if you write fanfiction, even stating "Enjoy your fic. Write one about me in a human centipede with escape the fate. idgaf."
