My car literally spontaneously combusted...

On Dec 31, 2020, My husband hit a deer on the way to work in our brand new car. He was fine, the car was not. Working with gap insurance was a bitch and because of that we couldn't get a new car right away so we borrowed my parents commuter car; a 1997 Toyota Corolla - It was on its last leg to begin with if I'm being honest. But other than that, there was no indication anything was wrong with it. Well, last night, he was on his way to work at the car stalled and the check engine light started flashing. He pulled over to call me to let me know and someone pulled up next to him and yelled at him to get out because it was on fire. And then it proceeded to flame up and melt the entire front end and cab. The fire dept got it put out and after investigating under the hood, concluded that it was likely caused by something electrical. We now do not have a car and Gavin won't be able to work for possibly weeks... I'm honestly incredibly stressed and I'm tired of the other shoe always dropping. This site feels like a little bit of a stress release because there is a form of age regression that happens here and I can go back to a time that wasn't actually simpler, but was simpler in the sense that I was putting out everyone elses fires not mine.
