Haiiii! On saturday may 10th, i performed live for the very first time, it was a beautiful experience, but the lead-up was honestly pretty rough, i was super nervous, painfully nervous hahah i was so anxious i actually thought about backing out and not going to the venue, but in the end, i love making music too much, so i had to keep my head up.
The show took place at a friend’s house, he's a musician too, i got there and started setting up my set, i was really nervous because i felt like something was bound to go wrong, i had actually prepped four different ways to get audio from my laptop to the speakers, just in case something failed hahahahs (yeah, i’m kinda paranoid like that).
While i was setting up, one of my online friends from another city showed up, my friend Pucho, who i actually met through this site lolll, i never thought i’d meet someone from here in real life, i was so happy to see him, and honestly, i couldn’t believe it, it was the first time i met an internet friend in person.
Anyway, i went back to setting up, and my first audio test failed, no sound came out of my laptop at all, so i tried the second backup method, and that one finally worked, it was such a relief to hear it start working, i was getting really nervous when the first method didn’t go through.
After that, i went to the kitchen with my friend to chat, i thought we were gonna sit there in silence since we’re both introverts, but thankfully, we ended up talking a lot, then two other musicians joined the conversation, and they started talking about electronics and engineering stuff, sadly, my friend slowly got left out of the conversation… but i tried my best to keep him involved somehow.
After those two left, i kept chatting with Pucho, then my parents arrived at the venue, and a little later, another online friend of mine showed up, someone i’ve known since 2021, we had never met in person even though we live in the same city, we just never managed to cross paths until that day, i was so happy to see him too it felt surreal meeting two internet friends in one day hahah.
After that, i started getting nervous again because my performance time was getting close, i went to double check my whole setup, and i ended up chatting with one of the musicians who was gonna play after the set following mine, he tested out my electric keyboard and we talked about music and all that good stuff.
And then… it was time to play.
I totally forgot to record my set, i was so rushed and distracted lol, i noticed everyone had stayed to watch me, so i quickly sat down and started playing, i asked them to be patient with me since it was my first time performing live… and then i began.
After finishing, i felt incredibly relieved, it was such a satisfying feeling, for a moment, it felt like i had only played for 15 minutes, so i even thought about playing a bit longer, when i was done, w asked my friends how long w had played, and it turned out to be around 35 minutes, my set was actually pretty long
After that, i went to bring my gear out to the car, i asked the guy who owned the house to wait at the door for me because i planned to come back in… but he totally ignored me and left me outside for like 10 minutes, i had to call a bunch of people to let them know i was stuck out there, they finally let me back in, i honestly felt like i was gonna be locked out forever hahah.
Then, two more sets of improvised music followed, the next one was experimental music with some visual stuff too, and the last one was full on chaotic improvised music, they played super loud and were the most intense act of the night.
Helecho experimentar + Dorotti
Coro de mil chanchos + Alexis Perepelycia + Fabrizio Valdes
Honestly, it was such a great day, even though i was super nervous and kept imagining everything that could go wrong, it felt amazing to play live and to meet two online friends in person.
Here are the two audio excerpts from the live performance:
