If your on the fence about linux...

don't worry. this is coming from a linux user who recently switched so you don't have to worry about me being the "just switch" type. personally i love linux it was the best switch ive made. of course you don't have to but if you want to heres a list of pros and cons

PROS

1: it is incredibly secure. apps can not do anything without a password and you have to use your password to download software from the pre-loaded "app store" more on that later

2: great community. if you have ANY problems someone who has used linux for a long time is sure to be quick to respond

3: easy to use. other than needed a terminal prompt once in a blue moon linux doesn't have bad rejection if your switching from windows. linux mint is the best if your switching from windows

4: Easily customizable. im not sure if its the same for other distros but linux mint has a pre-loaded theme app where you can apply and download themes! and if you can't find what your looking for there are several websites where you can download a file and drag it into the .themes folder and most of the time it will work

5: No bloat. windows is a cpu HOGGER and so this means that it will slow down alot of your games before i switched i couldn't do max graphics on roblox (yes yes boo boo i play roblox) but now i can do that while running at 40 fps! considering my laptop is from 2018 with a intel i5 its like new! it should also be noted that the engine i used called sober only does voxel lighting so that is apart of it

CONS

1: 97% of software is made for windows. so if you don't wanna give that up thats completely understandable. steam is easy to find if your an avid gamer

2: internet might be a bit slower. not sure if its my provider but when i was on windows with my supa slow t-mobile internet web pages loaded some what fast but when i switch sometimes it would take a minute or two for a picture on a website to load! if your worried about this wired connections have always been faster than wireless

3: some stuff just won't work even though it works for others. the best example i can give is when i was trying to get multimc to work so i could play minecraft beta 1.7.3 but no matter what i downloaded or did it just didn't work. so i caved and got the official launcher and my door sounds arn't correct!

So if your still not sure...

thats fine! im not a tech expert and its been great and if this hasn't been useful. this is my first real "review" or something like that i feel like the youtuber linus tech tips explains pros and cons and why to switch much better than i ever could! but i hope that this has at least helped you a little bit

Some remarks on the cons, the internet speed could depend on what kind of internet drivers you are using and you could have an or an outdated bios.

And then for the software, it is a huge misconception as 97% of windows applications ARE supported by linux. The only ones that are not able to run on linux being those that are os locked to only being able to run on windows or mac, it's like how apple wanted safari to only be able to run on IOS to hoard some of the people relying on that piece of software to stay on their os.
