bad music is worth alot really

Bad music with personality and passion put into it is, more often than not, worth alot more than a sterilized, “guaranteed to succeed” song thats just made to appeal. Songs with shitty vocals can express so much emotion compared to songs where they hit all the notes and the vocalist sounds like so many others that are using all the same formulas and sounds. Whenever someone gets up on the stage and isn't classically trained they're gonna put some soul into those vocals. This is why raunchy punk and emo bands really do it for me; their whines and screams are as genuine as music can come, and they’re going against anybody who tells them they can’t sing.

well, this doesn't just count for bad singing, but really unconventional singing and unconventional songwriting. Some bands i enjoy have very out-there instruments and vocals; it makes them incredibly interesting to listen to and it gives the music soul through its rough edges and unique approach. Like what other punk band will ever have the energetic saxophone playing of John Pollard, or Emily’s incredibly high and strange vocals. All this alongside Dave Wengers masterful writing and unique style of guitar playing makes Daddy's Hands one of my favorite bands.

An appreciation for the honesty and rough edges that can give music its personality is also why outsider music is enjoyed; or at least it’s why i enjoy it. Artists like Daniel Johnston are so honest and imperfect that you can just sit with him and he can tell you all about his hopes and loves and do it in a way only he could.

hehe this is all really bullshit but i just wanted to say smth

Finally someone said it!! I hate overdone and "perfect" songs without soul, that sound exactly the same, without any zest, just soulless music recorded in an expensive studio for the sake of money, standard vocal techniques, and no movement to the side, everything is clear and according to plan. But I think it's still better to know something about vocals in order to masterfully manipulate it, creating something of your own from the established old.
