since, identity is lived, and i replace the boat not all at once but as time wanes. it gives the new self enoough time to become one's identity. its the same boat that way. as i break in something i hold dear i am also lived and observed, even as something new, a rupture or mend appears by replacing the broken, i am myself. can we define existence as, a moment?not arrested by only one change or state then?

Fun fact! The human body replaces every cell in its body every 7 years!

I would say it isn't the same ship. Everything changes, you may test that with yourself---are you the same as 1 month ago? 1 year ago? 10 years ago? Of course not, you're different. You may be builded over a preconstructed base, but you change every second!

one of my fave philosophical questions! yes, unless you replace all of the parts at once, its the same boat

boat's name is sweet nellie. she's a wooden ship. she gets a hole in her hull during a storm and it gets patched up. her sail rips so she gets a new sail. sweet nellie sees a lot of hardship (lol. hardSHIP) over the years and needs to be patched and fixed up all the time. down the generations, sweet nellie has been so loved, each old part of her replaced with care. she's still full of the memory and love that she's received since she was the original old sweet nellie. she's still the same ship!

If somebody replaced all the parts to my boat I dont think it's the same boat anymore. its completely renovated. if somebody made a boat with the discarded parts then thats my boat still because its all of the make up of my boat 3 unless they just used some parts of my boat... then its now a shared boat <3

I think it would still be the same boat, it would be similar if every one of your cells were replaced, which can kind of happen since cells die all the time, you’d still be the same person
