we sadly had to say goodbye and send caitlin across the rainbow bridge last night. this is the saddest i've been in a long time. she was my best friend for ten whole years. the first dog i ever owned. she grew up with me. she stayed with me through everything. she helped me through my past mental health struggles, especially my anxiety. caitlin wasn't just a dog, she was pure love. so sweet, smart, loyal, always wanting to be there with her family.Ā
but she unfortunately had a giant tumor in her shoulder. she was limping heavily, lost her appetite, and was in a lot of pain and discomfort. we just didn't want her to suffer any longer, so me, my mom, and my brother took her to the vet where she went to sleep one final time. it was peaceful and painless, and we were with her and made sure she knew how loved she was until her last breath.
it felt so weird waking up this morning to one less family member. i had even dreamed that she was still with us, and cried when i woke up and realized she wasn't. she'll no longer be lying by my bedroom door, waiting for me to wake up. part of me thinks she'll just trot right over when i call her name like she always has, but i know she won't. it hurts.Ā
thank you caitlin for everything. may you finally be at peace now. know that i and the rest of the family will love, remember, and treasure you forever
