Virtual reality got my interest back in 2016. Rift CV1 looked like a dream. Its price tag and import taxes crushed that dream fast. I lived in a place where getting that was a hassle. Skyrim VR dropped in 2018 and I lost my mind wanting to play. No chance, still too broke. Life changed when I left my country. I got stable and started saving money. Oculus Quest hit in 2019, cheaper and no crazy taxes. My VR plan kicked off and bought a Quest. No good PC yet, so I rented cloud services mostly for Skyrim and Fallout VR. Latency was okay, not great. I loved it anyway, diving into those worlds. Building my new PC took time. By the end I had a beast, ready for anything. Skyrim VR, Fallout VR, VRChat ate hundreds of hours. I played endlessly, lost in virtual lands. Comfort was the catch. Headsets got annoying. Two hours in, they were uncomfortable. I bought every upgrade, pads, straps, anything. Marks still showed up after long sessions. I tried other headsets, same issue, always uncomfortable after a while. A few months ago I jumped back into VR and excitement faded quickly. Short sessions with breaks don’t really work for me. I crave deep immersion, hours unbroken. Real world discomfort ruins it. Tech isn’t there yet. Lightweight headsets that don’t get annoying after hours are years away. I guess I need to keep waiting.
