you are not the shit for watching gore..

all sites linked are .org, except for reddit.

the fact this is even a debate is just horrible. gore. the dismantling and mutilation of real human beings is your entertainment? taking a glimpse into these rotten and disease ridden echo chambers of these gore enthusiasts is depressing. people who have been engulfed in the glamorisation of gore. this is not at ALL a thing to wave around β€œheh.. look at me. i can watch this man have his head severed off while his ribs get crushed in!” what. you are so mentally deprived of empathy you actually need to be studied. study that rancid brain and fix you up. slobbering over your keyboard as your eyes fixate on the blood. who are you?

the desensitisation of gore is so, so low. its traumatising, it prevents you from expressing normal human empathy to any other deaths. in all honesty, it fucks you up so, so badly. accounts of people who were engulfed in this cycle of gore gore gore are so numb to it, every gore video they watched replays within their mind. you lose your humanity. you lose yourself.

people who were addicted say its essentially traumatic. no human mind is ever able to comprehend that much death, blood, guts. no one is ever prepared for that, yet its normalised. people get traumatic flashbacks to gore, as said earlier.

one person who recounts attempting to heal from being a gore addict says:

taken from r/mentalhealth under a question about coping with gore

β€œYes. I used to watch gore videos all the time, and it did irreparable harm. I’m scared of everyone, I struggle to talk to cashiers, and men in general make me freeze. When I got a new job years ago, it took me months for me to be able to get food on my breaks. The restaurant parking lots reminded me too much of places where I’d seen people die. I thought I was just desensitising myself, but I was mostly just traumatising myself, and it wasn’t obvious to me until years later.

that is horrible, depressing, just sad. allowing yourself to fall into this cycle, again cause detrimental consequences.

just look at this. secondary traumatic stress, defined by:

a condition that develops from indirect exposure to the traumatic experiences of others. its not from the experience of trauma itself, however is the negative impacts of being exposed to the trauma of someone else, which include emotional and psychological damage.

general overview on kids viewing gore

quite literally picking up a new disorder by repeatedly watching this shit. i saw gore exactly like that kid who was clickbaited into watching a man get his head cut off. that was my exact situation. i wasnt even 10 yet. i couldnt sleep for days. the idea that people are intrigued by that to the point of desensitisation is foul.

now, of course if you work in forensics, or at the morgue, you are going to be somewhat desensitised to death and gore because thats your job, but you dont experience joy out of it. you feel sorrow, and pain for the family of the victim(s). thats okay! because again, thats your job, and youre doing it for a positive cause, as a mortician you are preparing the individual to rest in a respectful manner. as a forensic scientist you are investigating a crime scene to bring the cause/murderer to light, and give them the consequences they deserve.

theres a clear line.

so. yeah. dont watch gore, gives you life long trauma and fucks you up.

this, it's super annoying when ppl act like gore is the coolest shit ever and they don't even realize how bad it is for them to be so desensitized to seeing people suffer like that. it's kind of heartbreaking
