Viking cakes

Hey everyone! ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶

I haven't wrote anything in a long time. If you saw the blog post I made a few hours ago (just act like it didn't happen). It was super poorly written as I was focusing on multiple things and talking to people whilst trying to write it. But now I am alone and I'm able to actually concentrate yay!

So where have I been? Well, I would like to say that I have been particularly busy and that I just haven't had the time to write. But in reality I've just had an absolute drought of energy. I have seemingly accumilated so much to do whilst also feeling like I have achieved nothing? Hopefully that makes sense to someone out there. But I am back now, I hope that some of the people I had on here are still active - it's hard to tell, barely anyone writes blogs. Ironic coming from me at the moment I know :)

The top of a 'church' - an outdoor church space

I went and visited a place called Bedes World with my brother. Its a museum and viking centre which features a small village and farm. The museum part was interesting, however it seemed pretty run down. A lot of the paint seemed discoloured, the toilet facilities old and the floors were rather grubby. It reminded me more of a place you visited in school, where everyhing is naturally rather dirty from kids running amuck often.

Some weird dood

My favourite part of the whole place was probably the main viking home that you were allowed to enter. It was really tranquil. Just generally appealing to all senses. I did feel like I could just close the door and stay in there, making it my own home. It had a rather peculiar smell to it as well. It really did smell like how you imagine a medieval fantasy land to smell. So many different scents mixed together: Herbs, smoke, wood, mud, perfumes, livestock dandar. It was sickly sweet but strangely comforting.

They had a good mix of animals at the farm as well and a suprising amound of workers. There were these English goats which were absolutley giant. Bigger than any goats I had ever seen. Its upsetting because the sign told us that there were only 200 breeding pairs left in the world. Its weird to look at a creature and think to yourself that it may be the last time you see any of its kind again. They also had cows, sheep, pigs, ponies, some really sweet barn cats and snowy owls - which we couldn't see because they were busy sleeping.

The tickets for this place thankfully last a full year so I'll probably be back at some point soon if I decide to go on a walk in that direction.

The greatest part of the day was the cafe that was just outside of the centre. The menu was 95% vegan and it took me ages to figure out what to order. I ended up going for a kimchi cheese toasty which was super tasty! It was very smokey and a little bit spicy. Then afterwards I decided to grab a box of chocolate cake and carrot cake. I feel super sick after eating anything sweet so I was nearly comatosed after I finished eating them whilst walking home. It was totally worth it though, 10/10 would do it again .·°՞(˃ ᗜ ˂)՞°·.

As for some things I have been doing at home... My pear tree has finally decided that it wants to produce fruit this year! I counted fourty pears in total. Which is an insane amount considering the past few years it has struggled to produce one (it had one and then it got snapped off). I hope at least some pears manage to survive throughout summer this time. If not I also have a cherry tree which performs really well each year, so you'll probably see a post about that in the near future!

I also had been trying to make sourdough. I started up my sourdough starter, maticulously feeding it every day - just to then only make one half successful loaf out of it. They take such a long time to make that, after each failure I started to feel a bit sick of trying. I'm not tottally giving up, I just want to give it a long rest (  •̀⤙•́  )

ooooh bubbleh

Well I think thats it for this post, I hope everyone has been doing well and enjoying life

Wishing yous the best
