Just Bought a New Typewriter-

This will probably make the 9th that I have bought. 

It's A Royal FP from like 1961, I think (based on the Warranty). The guy sold the thing to me for thirty bucks (a steal). It's a pretty common non-portable model that I've seen around a lot, but I didn't buy it for myself; I bought it as a gift. I tried to clean the thing up as best as I could, used a high concentration of rubbing alcohol on the metal parts, and a dish soap water mixture for the plastic keys and other plastic bits and bobs. I didn't want to take apart the thing (something that I want to do in the future with a typewriter that doesn't work right), so I just cleaned in between as best as I could with Q-tips. Gonna tell the person I bought it for to use a sewing machine oil for keys (I took off loads of grease off the keys). The original owner clearly took good care of the thing as it was serviced twice, once in 1966 and once in 1977. Clearly, though, I was left somewhere to accumulate large quantities of dust as it was caked onto the inner portion of the machine. I also bought new ribbon for the thing and strung it onto the old metal typewriter ribbon spools. It took a while to get the ribbons on properly and spinning. It's my least favorite part of the typewriter process since it's so messy. I managed to get ink everywhere, of course.
