me and a friend went to the final show of the like magik tour last night and it was an incredible experience. it was at a fairly intimate venue and we managed to get pretty close to the stage which was pretty cool.
the opening act was plague vendor, and while i wasn't too familiar with them, DAMN their performance was fun. things got pretty rowdy during their set, and my friend and i actually ended up moshing for the first time. the adrenaline rush i got was insane and i loved it sm. now i kinda want to check out more of them
and soon it was time for ls dunes. as anthony walked out onstage, the audience was reaching out for him, he reached out back, and because we were so close to the stage, i got to high five him!!:D the band started strong with like magik and then went straight into fatal deluxe. the energy was insane. the two songs i was most looking forward to hearing were violet and gray veins (grey veins especially). both those songs were amazing, and i pretty much screamed through the entirety of both of them. i was also pleasantly surprised to hear them play 2022, another favorite of mine. i was hoping to hear them play forgiveness as well, and i was starting to think they weren't going to, but they played it right at the end for the encore (ngl hearing that song live got me emotional).
frank was mostly just vibing in his own corner of the stage during the show but at the very end he handed out a few guitar picks to the audience AND I OMFG I GOT ONE
it's my new prized possession :D
if i'm being completely honest, going to this show was the most alive i've felt in months. it felt amazing to just let go for the night and forget about all the stress of the outside world. and it was just awesome to be surrounded by people passionate about the music scene, and it's something i'll never get tired of experiencing

I saw the Hold Steady live once in Minneapolis, I got some of Craig Finn's beer in my face when he flung his backwash at the crowd, I was over the moon! XD
