HOW TO BE MORE INTERESTING (USING PSYCHOLOGY)

Hello everyone! lilysanee here.

So today I'm going to be talking about the ways you can become more interesting. One thing I'd like to say is that become an interesting person with the goal of self-improvement, mental peace and self-love instead of validation and attention from others. People's attention and validation isn't long-lasting so always do it for yourself. Before we get started, please make sure to visit my profile and add me if you liked my blog cause I will be posting similar blogs on self-improvement and life lessons.

1. Introduction

Clubbing, hanging out with friends, social media scrolling, bed rotting is not an hobby! I've seen many people put on their bio listing such hobbies. But all it shows is how unenthusiastic and uninspiring you are as a person. Your quality time is being sucked away by low attention span. Scrolling these mini-videos is doing nothing other than lowering your self-esteem and making you less patient. Reels are the reasons why people do not have the patience to listen for long periods. They just need all the information and summary in less time. But I have a perfect solution for it. Not only solution but I'll be also telling how to plan, strategize and imply it.

2. Hobby is the solution

This might sound so basic and small but trust me I'll change your perspective on that. Interesting people are not born interesting. They are simply like us but more productive and wise. But have you noticed that all these interesting people have a high value hobby. I know that you might think you don't have enough time to pick up a hobby amongst your school/job works. But at the same time if you closely analyze your everyday routine you're simply wasting most of the time being unproductive or on social media. I'm not telling you to uninstall social media but the next time you start to scroll, just ask yourself that is it really worth it? You can simply do the important things such as replying to DMs or whatever but avoid scrolling endlessly. Also, just focusing on your school related stuffs is bad for your mental health. Don't worry I'm going to say step by step on what you need to do.

  •  Analyze your energy levels

So first divide your day into 3 parts. Morning, noon and night. Now think carefully that during which time of the day do you feel most productive. Then assign your heavy works during the most productive hours and set aside the other for your working on other activities which do not require much energy.

  • Pick out the right hobby

Picking out a right hobby is so important because you should be mindful of how you spend your time. Think about where your natural curiosity lies. Think what were the things you loved to do when you were little. Choose something that you were always passionate about. Choose something that interests you, not something that you are supposed to be interested in. It doesn't matter how good you are in it.

  • Hobbies for a balanced discipline

There are 3 areas from where you need to develop at least one hobby.

  1. For Mental discipline : Hobbies which fall under these categories help you to focus, control your thoughts and maintain a consistent mindset. Eg: Journaling, Writing, Meditation.
  2. For Physical discipline : Hobbies which fall under these help you with self-control, refreshes brain and improves quality of life. Eg : Exercise, Yoga, Dance.
  3. For Practical discipline : These hobbies help you to earn money while you enjoy doing it.

Eg : Trading, Coding, Soft skills.

3. Time myth

Now the question is "How much time should I spend?". To be honest, there are no specific hours for it. You just need to make sure you have consistent hours and break it into small parts to make it not to be seen as a task. Remember that 1% improvement is better than nothing.

4. Take your Athlete break

This means that you do not have to do everything each single day. After all, your brain needs rest too! So think of your life as an athlete. An Athlete always trains hard and is consistent. But also takes enough breaks to calm his body and mind. Just like that it's okay to have a whole day without doing nothing but chill. It can be anytime you want as per your needs but make sure to take it only when it's needed!

That's it for the blog! I hope that my insights were helpful to you. Feel free to give it a Kudos and comment your opinion. (Writing is a hobby that I picked up to improve my skills hahah >.<)

hahah! the main problem is scrolling only. your purpose in life is going to be more clear when u get rid of social media. I have seen it for myself that's why I'd recommend it. It's been around 5 months since i deleted them and the amount of free time I have now was quite shocking for me. And now i proudly have so many interesting hobbies and also good way to spend my time.

Hey! I really like your advice here, but if I can offer my own it would be this - do uninstall social media, or at the very least get external methods to limit your scrolling; I found that simply not touching your social media is the easiest and simplest remedy. Tell your friends "ok guys im doing a social media detox for a while, if you wanna talk and hangout message me on [platform that doesn't have a feed/algorithm like discord, whatsapp, SMS, etc. ]"

Other than that I want to ask: what about hobbies that are just fun? Not very useful, but just pure un-adulterated fun? I guess these hobbies are all right so long as they benefit us and we don't feel like we're wasting our time? For example, I'm currently trying to learn early modern English as a hobby, so I'm reading old texts (currently on Paradise Lost), writing down archaic words and spellings I'm not familiar with. You know what, even if you decide that it is useless, I like this hobby too much to care! I guess that tells me all I need to know!

Anyhow, cheers!

I'm not sure about hobbies that are just fun. Every hobby as a good potential. Even your hobby is great! I'D ME INDANE TO CALL IT USELESS. The hobby i do just for fun is learning dance choreography and how to use sign language.
