Hello, and welcome to my review of Killer chat!
This is my first of, hopefully, many game reviews I'll do. I decided to start blogging about the games my girlfriend and I end up playing, hoping to share the ones I like, and because I just like it. :)
With that, onto the review.
A quick breakdown of the game:
Requirements: Potato
Gameplay: Trivial
Length: Short
Rating: 9/10
And the game itself of course: https://rosesrot.itch.io/killer-chat
And now, onto the review itself...
Killer Chat is such a nice little game, I really loved it! The premise of the game is that you're a writer, trying to write a character who's a killer. Naturally you go online to ask a lot of questions about... murder, and an... sends you an invite to a chat full of killers, thinking you yourself are one. Will you join?
While this is a , it actually weirdly enough doesn't feel like one. It just feels like your character is stuck in this odd situation, with all of these, well, murderers.
Since the game takes place in a chatroom, the characters and how well they're written is pretty important, and it's done s o w e l l in this game! If try and write a dialogue between two different characters right now, they might end up "speaking" in a very similar way and may feel like similar people, which makes sense since they're written by one single (probably inexperienced) person. The characters in this game, though? They're so full of personality, they all genuinely feel like different, fleshed-out people, and combined with the fact that the game has voice chat (actual VOICE chat), with the characters being voiced very, v e r y well, and their respected voice actors bringing forth their personality in a really good way, every character feels different and like their own person. Moreso I want to emphasize that they feel like an , not like a written character.
I don't want to speak about the individual characters and their traits much, since that's on to see and experience for yourself, but ugh they're so well done. There's someone for anyone to like here. I will say that the game does a good job of getting you attached to the different characters in a relatively short amount of time, which is pretty impressive.
Final thoughts, and who should play this?
Killer Chat is such a nice little game, it's a short experience that left me attached to the characters and I definitely want to see more of their lives and experience more of them (luckily, there are DLCs and separate games for backstories :> ), so if you're looking to get attached to a virtual character this one's a quick yes from me.
