I am now Employed (joyfully) and Scared (unrelated to the employment) in the United States (directly related to the fear)! Glad to have money for once... also I'm surprisingly good at saving up money and only spending it when I really snap and want something small (my childhood fear of financial insecurity made it so that buying something for over ten dollars is a bit of an intense inner debate every time, which serves me well in the philosophy of Save All You Can Before You Can't). Anyway, I work in a bookstore and I enjoy it very much. When we don't have any events going on in the store I can more or less play whatever I want, so here are some songs from my work playlist!
- Cloudbusting — Kate Bush
- Crystals — Magic Wands
- The Yawning Grave — Lord Huron
- Woodstock — Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
- Bloodless — Andrew Bird
- Cupid De Locke — Smashing Pumpkins
- And She Was — Talking Heads
- Just Like Heaven — The Cure (my all-time favorite Cure verse: "Daylight licked me into shape / I must've been asleep for days / And moving lips to breathe her name / I opened up my eyes / And found myself alone, alone / Alone above a raging sea / That stole the only girl I loved / And drowned her deep inside of me." It's so pretty I love it So much)
- Morning After — Ariel Pink and Weyes Blood
- Lovesong — The Cure
- Cannock Chase — Labi Siffre
- Rhiannon — Fleetwood Mac
- Season of the Witch — Donovan
- Love and Happiness — Al Green
- Moonage Daydream — David Bowie
- How Soon Is Now? — The Smiths
- Lovesong — The Cure
My work playlist has to be a bit less silly, unhinged, and/or heavy than some of the other music I listen to, but regardless I have a fun time making playlists of acceptable tunes for the store while more or less staying true to my general vibe.
To whoever's reading this, I hope you're doing alright! aaand goodnight (it's 12:20 AM where I am and I'm very near to passing out. wooof)
