Yesterday I went to the movies however nothing really seemed appealing to me honestly. There was the Minecraft movie and Snow White… like I said not really eye catching I looked around the website and saw a movie that no one was watching. As in completely empty the curiosity got the better of me so I decided to watch it.
First things first the positives:
It’s a beautiful movie. I really enjoyed the visuals and costumes. I feel like movies now have more color everything is set in this dark, muddy, depressing grey that makes the movie less enjoyable. However this one has been color grated— in my opinion— to perfection. The scene where the fall though a whole in between space and time was significantly an incredible experience.
The music was really good too. I was surprised to hear “Forever Young” by Alphaville though a popular song per se it still surprised me when it came on. It gave the movie the kind of vibe I was hoping they were going for.
The aliens didn’t really ever show up but I’m glad they didn’t because I would’ve been really disappointed if they ended up being stereotypical instead they went for a red aurora borealis that made the whole alien topic more ethereal and other worldly definitely an unknown.
Now the negatives
Unfortunately I felt like it was a little cliche I was also struggling to keep up with the story as it goes really fast for my liking. There’s a timeskip and I felt like I didn’t really connect with the main character I barely remember who the cop was to her in relation or what her name even was. The actors weren’t bad but the script and pacing felt rushed like we were on a race in the beginning.
AI. I dont know how to feel about it. Since the original movie was in Swedish they used ai to make they lips as if they were speaking English they did have the original actors voice act in English (hence the accent) but I don’t really know how to feel about AI on the film industry.
