Yesterday I went thrifting at a Goodwill near my apartment. There wasn't anything in particular I was looking for, but there's a handful of things that I look for whenever I go thrifting:
- Scene/emo clothing
- Old electronics
- CDs of bands/artists that I like
- DVDs/Blurays of shows and movies I like
- Old PC games[big box or otherwise]
- Old tech accessories[such as phone cases]
- Old console games
- Webkinz
- LPSes
- MLP stuff
- Nostaligic toys
I didn't find any scene/emo clothes that fit me and were not Shien/Temu crap. Seriously this shite is really making its way into thrift stores like crazy. No old electronics that were of use. I did find a Sony record/cassete player. It was tempting, but I don't have a spot for it right now. No CDs that I was interested in. Somebody was giving away their collection of R.Kelly disks and felt like I needed to wash my hands afterwards. As for the DVDs and blurays, it was either stuff I didn't care about or already had. For old tech accessories, I did find a CD label maker which was tempting, but I had no use for it. There was also an entire sealed pack of CD-Rs. I feel like I should of grabbed them, but I just don't burn a lot of disks. No console or PCs games whatsoever. No Webkinz, or LPSes. As for MLP, there were 4 different Applejack plushes, specifically Hasbro ones from 2017. Otherwise nothing. Something I did want but didn't grab was a Spongebob Operation from 2007. I remember when these were sold in stores. It was incomplete which didn't bother me, but there was no way to test to see if it worked, so I passed.
What I grabbed was one of the Applejack plushes, a Magic 8 Ball, a sand art kit, a pompom pet kit, and a Punirune. All for about $20.
As soon as I got home, I gave AJ a bath. I filled my bathroom sink with water and a little bit of detergent, and gave her a good rinse. Her mane and tail got a bit of dish soap and deep conditioner. She then hung in the bathroom to dry. It took about 36 hours for her to mostly dry, but she looks great[with a bit of fraying]
The punirune is quite interesting. It's a virtual pet similar to a Tamagotchi, but with a hole in the side, and in that hole is what I would describe as a "4 direction joystick topped with a mochi." I'll do an entire review of this at some point, but the jist is that it was a competator to the colour Tamagotchis released by Takara Tomy in 2021 in Japan, with it being brought to the US in 2024 by Spin Master. Suprisingly, there is limited information on this for English language internet. Im guessing Japanese language internet will have more info, but I haven't checked yet. I didn't even know this thing existed until yesterday. In case you are wondering, her name is Hope and she is an adult blue bear thing.
After studying, I opened up my sand art kit, and discovered that the bag for the blue sand broke open, and now sand is everywhere. It came with 4 bottles[a long and curvy, round and flat, a heart on a string, and a faceted potion bottle] and 5 colours of sand[neon blue, neon pink, neon yellow, neon orange, and neon purple.] The long one I used the pink, yellow, and blue[like the pan flag] with some slight swirling. The potion bottle was pink, purple and blue with a bunch of swirls. The round flat one is orange and yellow with stripes. The heart is a mix of yellow and blue. I had some extra sand, so I took an egg with a clear top and dumped the rest in there.
I went to go make the pom animals, but discovered that you need an iron, and I don't own one, so it'll have to wait until I go back home.
Today was nothing but straight up studying. Finals week starts tomorrow, with the first exam being Tuesday, so I needed to study.
I gave myself a tremendous headache, and am extremely tired.
Something that I forgot mention for Friday's post was that I got a Deluxe Membership for Webkinz, and I now have a new pet. She's a green velvet fox, and her name is Skye. She's a giant hippie.
Webkinz Classic does a promotion every May where you can get a half priced Deluxe Membership for a year. It's pretty great. Today's the last day.
