Today's Mother's Day and it honestly had me thinking, I feel like I don't show enough appreciation to my mother for her hard work. I got an idea from a close friend of mine while we were having a conversation. At first we were talking about me wanting to be more productive and go outside more, and then she brought up the fact that tomorrow was going to be Mother's Day, and she said that I should do something for my mom. I, at the time had no idea that Mother's Day was coming up so I didn't know what to do for her at all, and then I got an idea from her.
When I was young, my mom used to let me walk home from school, because the school was very close to my house so it'd only be a 4 minute walk from school to home. Every time me and my brother would walk home, we'd take small detours and grab flowers to give to our mom. So my friend said that I should do that for her again as a little reminiscence to the things I used to do for her, plus showing her my appreciation for everything she's done for me. So I did, I went for a walk (it was hot as hell by the way) and I found a flower for my mom and went back. I hid the flower in my pocket when walking in and went to my room, sadly when pulling the flower out of my pocket I seen that a piece of it broke off which made me a little sad and self conscious. So I asked a couple of friends first if they think she'd still like it, and they all said yes, so I gave the flower to my mom and she was actually really happy and grateful for it.
Seeing my mom happy really raised my mood and it made me feel proud of myself. So that's how my day went, if anyone decides to read this, I'd love to know how you guys did for your mom on Mother's Day.
Now that, that section is over, I'd like to talk more about family as a whole. One thing I think a lot of people forget is how important spending time with your family really is. It may not seem like it, but parents really do enjoy the love and appreciation from their kids, and people really do enjoy spending time with their siblings. In my opinion, there is no love like the love from your family, so everyone shouldn't be taking that feeling for granted. I never like to think of it in this perspective, but life is short and people can go at any moment, so spend as much time as you can with your family while you still have the chance, because if you don't, you may regret it sooner or later. Preserving even a little time out of your day to talk or at least call members of your family would really do you and them some good. Even if you don't have that good of a relationship with your family, I still suggest trying your best to hang out with them. But yeah, that's all I really have for today, happy Mother's Day people!
