sims 1 crashing on startup (fixed)

hi a few days ago installed the sims 1 from my two discs of the deluxe edition i got a while ago and though the install went great when i try to start the game my display changes size and bugs out, the ea startup logo flashes onto screen for a second then the game closes and my display shifts back to its normal size

ive replaced the sims.exe with the cracked one, opened it in xp service pack 2, xp service pack 3, i cant tell if its just my system or the game (i tried to run the sims 3 a while ago and same thing happened but that time threw an error, and sims 4 just an error)

i'm on an asus zenbook 14, intel arc gpu that's 128mb, 16gb of ram on windows 11

i've heard that my laptop model doesn't handle games too well but shouldn't it be able 20 year old software?

edit:ok stupid and put in the wrong sims.exe still thank you cellprocessor very much for recommending the full screen patch

thanks! though does it work with deluxe edition? asking since it specifies complete collection. im trying to look into it but im struggling to find anyone saying it works for deluxe, sorry for the additional question

the deluxe edition doesnt change that much of anything so yeah it does work

strange, try changing the resulotion in your config file that may work

its fine really, heck its best for me at its native resolution despite the black bars on the sides
