Is This What They Call Life?

Beep.. beep... beep.... There goes the sound Hiki's been dwelling over all night. The sound of his phone alarm, signaling his first day back to a normal school. After so long he wonders if he'll even know the common things to do. With a muffled murmur he lifts his head from his pillow and silences the phone, and while he clumsily moves to sit up he casts a quick glance at his phone just before the screen goes black. No new messages. What did he expect? He already knows it's the same outcome, he has no friends to check on him. Well, not yet. "..No, I'm already regretting this, aren't I? But mom.. she's already done so much for me, the least I can do is follow through on this."

Hiki approaches his closet, sleepily rubbing his eyes as he gets out the school uniform his mom bought for him. It fits well enough, and after a failed attempt at making his hair look nice, he leaves his room and heads toward the kitchen. There, something catches his attention, a little note on top of his lunchbox. Getting close enough to read it, an awkward half smile forms on Hiki's face. "Hey sweetie, your father and I are going to be at work when you get up, so I prepared this for you last night! Don't forget to take it with you this time, yeah?" It reads. Hiki hoped everyone had forgotten about that first day incident, but it seems to still be a running joke.. 

He takes the note off his lunchbox and grabs it, determined to not make a fool of himself this time. At least not in the way of forgotten lunch. Walking over to the front door, he checks over everything in his head in case he might've skipped over something, before slipping his shoes on and opening the door with a shaky hand. "Okay.. I got this. It's been.. a while, but I know I can do this! Well, I hope.." And with one last glance back he leaves the comfort of his home to attend a "normal" school once again, and maybe cure his burning loneliness as well.
