A Reflection on Protestantism

Today, I was talking with a friend online. We were talking about crappy American towns, exploring them in Google Street View, and joking around. We had came across a church in Ohio, where it was one of these churches with no icons, no paintings, an ugly cross and no pews, just cushioned chairs. On top of that, it was one of those churches with a rock band. Drums, with a shield to muffle the sound. Guitars, amps... What happened?

What happened to churches? They used to be so beautiful, with bells, choirs, vestments... Incense! Oh, the incense! How could we just omit the incense? Even Catholics use incense. I am so happy I got out of Protestantism, it is very much a sinking ship. Ugly, corporate churches that look the same, rock music that's terrible, the one hour sermon...

The worship is only 30 minutes long! God only gets 30 minutes. Why? Shouldn't he get the entire time we're there? I wasn't there to hear the pastor ramble on about how it's bad for Christians to consume this media, it's bad for Christians to consume non-Christian things, because our lives should be endless echo chambers.

I was there to worship God. It turns out, he wasn't there in his fullest. He was in the Orthodox Church.

I hope the Protestants realize how much of a dying horse it is. No one wants to be Baptist or Pentecostal anymore. People want a church with communion. With hymns, with tradition!
