hi welcome to my new blog series "cool animal" and this is the pilot episode (first entry in series idk)
this animal is cool it is the montseny brook newt and it is endemic to the montseny massif in spain, specifically in the Montseny Natural Park and it looks cool look at this (from Wikipedia)
there are two sub-populations (recently proposed to be sub-species based on my research) that are separated by a valley in the Tordera river, and they live in the fast and col streams
as this species is endemic and has a relatively small population and range, and as they are threatened by thing such as diseases particularyly chytridmicosis and their streams drying up, among other reasons, this is a critically endangered species. there is conservation about for them, such as the LIFE Tritó del Montseny project, but the species is still at risk
that's the first episode of cool animal, i'll probably do more later if i get ideas but yea
goodbye
