First off I'm only 18 but I miss renting movies from stores. I don't like streaming because they either never have the movie you want or they only have terrible cash grabs. There are certain movies I want to see for the first time but they are never on streaming but when I rent it online they end up adding it to some streaming service. I feel like they are sorta just gambling when you want to watch a movie on the tons of streaming services but 90% of the time they do not have it. Plus sometimes they only have the first movie or just the sequels. I started renting movies from my local library and they have dvd's and blueray's with some quality choices. I ended up walking around my library dvd section for 30 minutes and picked up movies that I have never even heard of but were good. It felt really nostalgic like when I was a kid walking around the video store having to make a choice and discovering something new.
Does anyone else miss them, and what's your favorite video store memory if you have one?

i remember there was a rental behind a papa johns' which was pretty far from home.
as a child, my parents used to take me there, almost every two months, we'd go between 7-8pm and the place was always packed.
most times food would take so long we'd stay there for more than an hour, so after eating we always rushed to the rental before it closed at 10.
i remember specifically about 2008 or 09', we rented bolt, iron man and kung fu panda and i'll never forget picking the films with immense joy knowing i'd watch the hell out of them before we returned them. the place closed probably between 2010 and 2011.

Not necessarily rental, but i used to live near this flea market kind of place that had a guy that sold dvds and vhs, and i would always pick through the bargain bin and pick up weird niche stuff to take home and watch, wish it was still there
