Entry 4 – Dream Entry [08/05/2025]

Hello, reader.

For anyone that doesn’t know what a dream journal is, it’s where one records the dream they had that night, as well as reflections and their feelings and other relevant details. The record could be made in writing, drawings, voice recordings, etc. They’re used to improve dream recall and to help induce lucid dreaming, and can even be used to recognise and predict patterns in awake life. I don’t maintain a dream journal regularly anymore; but every once in a while, I write down a dream that interests me or that I remember more clearly. This blog entry is one of those onces. For the sake of making my life simpler, the body of the text has been written in bullet points.

Trigger warning: there’s a mention of drugs (very brief). By the way, there are a lot of “I don’t remember”s “I presume/assume”s in this, so just be warned. There’s also no clear climax, like I don’t really get into it before the dream ends, so if you’re looking for an action-packed adventure(??) then click off or something, I don’t know. Enjoy, if you will.

(For additional context, my dad has been talking about getting an Xbox, and we have a TV in our dining room. In the dream, my dad has already bought the console some time back.)

• Dad installed a new game today
• We’re opening the game for the first time
• I look at the developer studio name (something like ‘WePlay LiveTV’) and go “oh nooo”
• Dad asks me why ‘oh no’ and I respond that “because it’s a horror studio” (+ I also remember tripping a bit on the word ‘studio’, as I sometimes randomly mess up words)
• Description of the studio logo: each word is a different bright colour; I think it was red, green, pink, and yellow respectively but I could be wrong; the font was similar to Chiller but not the exact same, a bit more tapered at the bottom; the text had a thin black outline around it (I’m guessing maybe because of/to represent some sort of image degradation, eg. like what happens to some images with removed background)

• In the dream, I already knew (or maybe had quickly understood) that the studio made games resembling nostalgic devices but were actually horror
• A lot like ‘last seen online’ and a bit like ‘Doki Doki Literature Club’ (but a little more obvious and a little less traumatising than DDLC)
• This game in the dream looked like a cross between a Nintento Wii and DSi; but with dark mode (a dark grey, green, and white colour palette), a more Arial-looking font, more pointy and hard rectangles rather than rounded ones, and soft shading on buttons like there would be on Windows 7
• There was a side-scrolling app menu like in the DSi, and there were a few different apps and games spaced out on it
• In the top corners of the screen were two green tabs, presumable ‘exit’ and ‘search’ but I don’t know/remember exactly
• is the closest I could get it (imagine horizontally flipped onto the top-right corner for the one that presumably said ‘search’)

• In the top left, just below the green tab, there was another line of white-coloured and bold text that read “Do not press the 🪁 button” (but the kite was also white like it was a symbol, not an emoji) (also it might have been in all caps but I don’t remember)

• So I found the kite button on the remote (which looked like a regular black TV remote but maybe slightly smaller) and pressed it
• This opened up an app that looked like a sim game
• Three people (assumably men, but not entirely sure) were sitting in a dimly lit room, loosely forming a triangle in their arrangement
• Two on the sides were sitting on wooden(?) stools and the one in the middle was sitting at the edge of some sort of wooden plank-covered platform, possibly a stage; this was presumably a bar
• The walls were darkly coloured and there might have been curtains at the two sides of the stage; I also get the feeling that the place was quite dusty
• I was viewing the scene from above the characters, looking diagonally down at them from a somewhat close distance; the graphics were 3D and of pretty decent quality
• The person sitting on the stage was the character that I was playing as
• I didn’t ‘create’ any character before starting so I assume it was either the default or the storyline main character, and I think he had a “You” next to the name in brackets or something like that, which was how I knew I was playing as this character
• The other two were I assume NPCs, and I think the three were band members
• I moved the selection from my character to the one on the left
• His brief description said something along the lines of “drug addict” or “former drug addict” and possibly some other details that I’m not remembering
• Pretty sure the dream ended after this
• The game also had a soundtrack, but I don’t remember when exactly this played; although I sort of remember it fading/cutting to silence after opening the kite button game, so it could have been in the intro or the app menu

• This sounds a lot like the I’m on Observation Duty 6 soundtrack ‘Good Ending’, because I play that game a lot and it seems to have woven its way into my subconscious
• It also sounds a bit like ‘The Hero (8-Bit)’ from the Generation Loss – Generation 1 soundtrack because of the sawtooth synths

And that’s it, folks. On a sidenote, I also had a dream a couple nights ago of inviting people to my house. It was a party and there were a lot of kids and they wanted to play hide-and-seek and they got everywhere, including my room and touched so much stuff and aeefghlgdagjsflkhs-

So yeah, I don’t think I should invite my friends over to my house before I’m ready. And about that birthday party thing that I missed last entry, there’s not much to write about really. Or not much that I particularly want to write about. Me and a friend bought gifts for the birthday friend together, and also carpooled to her house in the evening. We were both having a horrible day, so we were both tired and pissed off from the beginning. Birthday celebration was chill; I love my A Level gang (+ we played foosball, and Taboo, and obviously chatted). But three people were missing as they moved out early for college or other reasons, so there was literally just five of us there. And yeah, that’s about it for that topic as well.
