A science fiction story that i wrote-I was inspired by my dream

Title: The Nightmare Beneath the Gold

The war was over. Humanity had lost.

The creatures had taken over the world. Cities crumbled into ruins, and the few survivors formed tribal communities, living in hiding. But that wasn’t how it all started. Long before the end, they came for us — the humans.

They drilled into the backs of our skulls, live and conscious.

Into the wounds, they embedded a circular device that gave us the power to control animals and speak to each other telepathically. we fought against the creatures that came to the world by controling animals (lions, horses, whales, bears). is it a gift? No — a curse. We could speak to each other telepathically, but every connection felt like losing a piece of our soul.

I was different.

While others received one device, they put one in my brain and three along my spine. I was an experiment. A disposable test subject. They expected me to die.

But I didn’t.

I survived.

And I became powerful.

unfortunatly humans lost the war at the end and the creatures won...

Chapter I: Rising from the Ashes

After the fall, I built my own base — a safe haven with reinforced walls, alongside a few surviving soldier friends. It was peaceful. At night, we’d gather and drink a strange fizzy beer — flavorless, more like cola. I’d get buzzed after the first sip. My hands would start to tingle.

But peace doesn’t last long.

One day... it came.

A massive, shapeless creature. Green. Slime-like. Bullets didn’t hurt it — they made it stronger. Right in front of me, it devoured the only female soldier in our squad. We barely escaped and sealed ourselves inside the base.

We had to stop it.

Chapter II: The Choice

I offered the device to the people in my base. I didn’t force anyone. Those who accepted were bound — able to speak through thought, to share strategy in silence.

We needed time. To buy it, we raided another base, stole resources, and fortified our walls. The creature returned, pounded the barricades — but couldn’t break through.

Time was ours again.

Chapter III: The Thing Inside the Gold

The plan was desperate but simple: lure it with food. Tons of it. While it gorged itself, we’d burn it alive.

And we did.

As it burned, it began to shrink...
Transforming.
Into the shape of a man.
A golden man.

We brought the golden body back to the base. While analyzing it, the gold cracked.

And from within... he emerged.

The General.

The one who abducted us, implanted those devices, and forced us to fight. We thought he had died in the war. But he hadn’t — he had mutated.

The slime was him.

Chapter IV: Shadows of the Past

Suddenly, I was back in that lab.
Screams. Cold metal.
They inserted one device in my brain.
Three in my spine.

“He’ll probably die,” someone said.

But I didn’t.

I returned to the present. The General stood in front of me — still himself, but warped. Powerful. Insane.

He wasn’t in control of his thoughts. He was a broken mind, stuck in the loop of command and domination.

“I will control your people,” he said.
“They will serve me.”

And they did.

Those who hadn’t taken the device — they listened to him. Followed him. As if something was drawing them toward him.

I think... he could control humans now too. Not just animals.

Only a few stayed loyal to me — the five who had chosen to wear the device.

Chapter V: The Last Stand

We had no choice but to flee. My base was lost. The General took over.

The five of us ran through the night, found a place to hide. Sat in silence. Drank more of that fizzy beer.

I could feel it again — the numbness in my hands. The tingling. The weakness.

And then…

I woke up.
