aliens- why do we deny their existence?

yo why do people get so defensive about the idea of aliens existing? i mean at the very least there's gotta be like bacteria or single celled organisms that arent from earth which technically makes them aliens. and if we came from bacteria then it's safe to assume that somewhere in the infinite universe, there might be other bacteria evolving into more complex and multicellular organisms. I doubt anything else in the universe near enough to us is advanced enough to come find us, that would be extremely lucky to have an advanced enough species close enough within travelling distance of us to actually reach earth. but at the very least there's gotta be something else out there. Imagine how terrifying it would be if we were the only thing in the entire universe with complex thought. Why in the entire history of the universe would anyone want to believe that over simply believing there's something else out there? i think it's because if humans actually find another intelligent race we're afraid to see if they're simillar to us. if this hypothetical intelligent race is as intelligent as humans or moreso, and theyre just as dangerous as us, that would be terrifying because that means other things out there living in the far reaches of outer space have the same aggression we humans do but more advanced tech. we'd be dead the moment we met them. But if this hypothetical alien race wasnt as aggressive as us humans it would be terrifying to our stupid ape brains because that either means theyre so much more advanced they feel safe enough with their tech to not need to feel fear, or they never needed to feel it i the first place. imagine if a group of people approached you in a terrifying place you believed yourself to be the sole intelligent creature in and you had been struggling to survive in, and these people had no weapons, didnt attack you like every other near-intelligent creature but simply wanted to study you as you study your surroundings and the insigificant bugs on the ground. that would be terrifying.

anyway it's way too late i should be sleeping. i'm sure this is cringey nonsense i'll read in the morning and want to delete but oh well.

This is neither cringey nor nonsense. What you have written here is perfectly reasonable. I don’t see how anyone can believe in the 21st century that we are alone in the universe (with the possible exception of religious fundamentalists whose narrow beliefs require us to be alone).

not cringey at all man, and honestly everything you said is correct. we should absolutely be TERRIFIED if aliens came to visit us, because imagine this. In the past let's just say 50 years that we've had good technology that allowed us to look at the universe, we couldn't find any intelligent (or non-intelligent ) life, and we've searched across (forgive me if my estimate is wrong) like trillions of square kilometres of space, and found no trace. Light years away, that is the distance light travels in one year, we've searched, and still found nothing.

Now imagine some alien species, out of nowhere just shows above earth. That would mean they'd have to avoid being detected by probes and satellites scattered across the solar system, and then appear right above earth. Like this would have to mean they either
1) Have technology that completely outclasses us , and are actively trying to kill us (why would they not respond to all the messages that we've sent otherwise)
or
2) Have to be travelling at high enough speeds (we're talking many many many times faster than light), to avoid detection, which also means they have outclassed us in terms of PHYSICS

Our current understanding of physics say that nothing can accelerate till the speed of light, if it has mass.

So the conclusion we can draw with our limited tech, is that either aliens don't exist, or they are actively trying to avoid our detection (which is honestly scarier than the first option)

Literally, I'd like to add a third option, they do exist but are so far away and not advanced enough for space travel just yet. sorta like humans pre 1960s. given the universe is infinite(another thing that terrifies me) it's not unbelievable that somewhere out there another mass of dirt could support life.

yeah that's like the other option, they exist far enough away that even with lightspeed travel, the people that reach there would be descendents of descendents of descendents of descendents of descendents of descendents of the descendents of descendents of descendents of descendents of descendents of (you get the picture) the people that left, it takes light 93 billion years, that is nearly 500,000x longer than the human race has existed (to my knowledge at least :P) for light to go from one end of the observable universe to the other

so like, it's entirely possible we will never observe alien life in our existence, ever.
