howdy, sorry for the delay of posts on my end. just needed some time to get back up on my feet by myself, & i understand it has just been a rough week overall. i hope everyone is doing well & taking time to themselves <3 it's no guess i'm trying out some word play with the titles of these blog posts, sounds a little cringey, but i'll likely adapt XD. makes it easy to tell which is which. without further ado let's get into it!
album of the week: paramore - RIOT!
you guessed it! it would be pointless for me not to break into this one after my last review & i literally dove in headfirst like a baby being forced to learn how to swim. i've never been so attached to music the way i have paramore's since the likes of green day or slipknot. it just felt right.
it was just as good as i hoped it would be. the album has a lyrical range that i honestly didn't really expect from this album, but if i had to divide it from the leading singles & pick a deep top 3 from best downwards, i would choose 1. hallelujah, 2. miracle & 3. crushcrushcrush but it's really hard because they're all on the same level of great. it's not in the ranking, but i did like 'fences' in particular as an honorable mention, at first i thought it was abt being institutionalized but idfk why it would be as hayley would've wrote that when she was at least 18 0.0
do i like this one more than awkif? surprisingly, not yet. awkif has songs from front to back that all sound like they could be separate singles on different albums, riot! has more to offer when it comes to paramore. but i'm still going to rate it an 8/10, i wish i had listened to it sooner when i got into their music circa 2021. SUCH A DAMN GOOD BAND SERIOUSLY.
game of the week: viewtiful joe
this one was a little obscure to me once it reached my radar, as i found it through a youtube compilation ranking the top 100? gamecube games, but i've seen it pop every now & then but once i really picked it up i can definitely see why.
if you're not a frequent gamer, it may not be for you as it is very critical when it comes to your timing & movements. but the gaming industry has vastly changed in the past 20 years so who knows? based on the story, it's a 3d animated side-scroller beat-em-up, where a movie fanatic takes advantage of a movie date before his woman is swept up by the main villain & has to carry on the legacy of the fallen hero.
it could very well depend on your overall strategy just as much as your performance, BUT the feature of slowing down time (although very temporarily) will guide you! i loved how active the gameplay maintained itself & i can't wait to play it again to finally get the jist of it. so far? generous 7/10.
UPDATE: couldn't even tell this was based off of a real cartoon for what it's worth, so lmk if anyone has seen it!
next week's should be good, so stick around for it! :)
