Bird Photo Dump! May 2025

Went to the beach on Saturday, got hit by waves multiple times taking these pics, 100% worth it! These guys were so cool, and I got some interesting shots, too. Some are with my mirrored 500mm lens, while the others are my MF/AF 300mm. My AF is kind of shitty right now, think there's some dust or something stuck in the sensor, so relied on MF more (might be blurrier than normal, sorry guys). Decided to get a bit experimental, too, did a few monochrome edits. All freehand, forgot my tripod again rip. Don't try getting manual focus flight shots freehanded (or using manual at all for that matter rip), it's such a hassle.

Terns are my favorite seabirds, as are skimmers, really happy to finally get some decent shots! I saw a sandwich tern (my favorite tern/overall seabird), but the shots I got weren't up to snuff ): Florida has so many unique seabirds, hoping to get a gannet (rarer) or frigate next time. Saw tons of frigates down the coastline, but none close enough to take any pics of. Surprisingly no ospreys out, usually see at least one. Also saw ruddy turnstones and a snowy egret.

Not the best at seabird ID, but 95% sure this is a royal.
I really liked seeing this pair of terns, dunno if they're a pair bond.

Seeing the colony of nesting skimmers was awesome!
All of these pics were specifically on the shore, all kinds of birds were
flocked together!

Decided to experiment, and make it monochrome. Surprised I actually

first or second winter coloration.

100% sure.
