dark sounds n dreamy vibes
been rlly deep in sum alt genres lately... mostly goth n shoegaze, but also a bit of jrock & heavy stuff when the mood hits.
The Cure r like pioneers of post-punk n goth rock — their early stuff in the late 70s had that cold minimal sound, but they got dreamier later on. "Disintegration" (1989) = masterpiece fr.
tbf Bauhaus came b4 them w/ "Bela Lugosi’s Dead" in ‘79, total goth anthem. lotsa art school energy, Peter Murphy’s voice = 🔥
Siouxsie & the Banshees r kinda underrated imo. started out punk-ish but evolved into moody, textured post-punk. Siouxsie’s style + vocals were so ahead of her time.
when it comes 2 shoegaze, gotta stan Cocteau Twins — Liz Fraser’s voice?? literally unearthly. no clue what she’s sayin half the time but it don’t matter lol.
also My Bloody Valentine = noisy dream perfection. "Loveless" was so innovative, took yrs 2 make n basically broke their label haha
sum days i switch it up w/ J-Rock or metal — v-kei bands like Dir en grey or X Japan got that dramaaa + crazy technical skill. real intense vibes, cathartic af.
dark music isn’t just an aesthetic. it’s a whole mood. history. culture. feelin seen in the static y’know?
