I've read, and even talked to a lot of people on programming-related places about what they are doing, learning etc, they always say some generic begginer project like a Todo app,a snake game, whatever, doing generic stuff doesn't make you a bad programer.
The problem is: this people want to learn programming, and guess what? They where not only basically just using AI,but they were using high level languages - which by itself isn't a problem - they were using library's to do everything! I don't mind,it's actually kind of more efficient to use library's, but they didn't even knew how any of it worked!
Also, they don't want to dwelve into any other areas; they don't want to use other, low level programming languages,or just get out of they're confort zone.

This is very true, actually. A lot of my old school friends used to do this and like "flaunt" it which pisses me off. I also love using lower level languages, assembly can be cool sometimes.
